Match abandoned. It's five in a row. The rain is not only playing spoilsport but also maintaining an unbeatable streak here in Trinidad. We should've been talking about individual teams and performances, by now, after five matches, but still, we can't shift our attention from the unpredictable weather in Trinidad. Let's hope there will be some cricketing action tomorrow and we could at least see a winner in one of the two matches - That's the least we can ask from the rain gods. 03:00 AM IST Update- This is what it is. I am sure not a single cricket fan would be waiting for an update like this. Just when things were getting better as far as the weather is concerned, the rain gods decided to intervene yet again. Just when the groundsmen were slowly taking the covers out, rain has returned again to play spoilsport, and yet again the covers are coming back on. The wait continues. Mind you, we didn't have a result in all four matches so far. Stay tuned for further updates.
Hello and Welcome to Sportskeeda's coverage for the 5th match of Trinidad T10 Blast. This is Arya Sekhar Chakraborty who will bring you everything that transpires during the course of the game. Stay tuned for the toss update and the team sheets if and when the match starts.
So it's time for the 5th match of the Trininadad T10 Blast. Unfortunately, all three matches slated to be played on Match Day 1 got washed out. Every six teams were slated to play on the opening day but the rain gods made sure that not a single ball was possible in any of the matches.
The first match of the day between Steelpan Players and the Samp Army Cocrico Cavaliers got underway after an initial interruption. The match was reduced to a 9-over affair and the Steelpan Players managed to score 96 in their allotted 9 overs. However, the skies opened up yet again when the run-chase was about to begin.
Soca Kings and the Scarlet Ibis Scorchers couldn't get a match on Day 1 but with the weather forecast being a bit promising for the day, both teams will look to get some game time under their belt. The Soca Kings had a relatively below-par outing in the previous edition which happened earlier this year, having lost 5 out of their 8 games.
The Scarlet Ibis Scorchers made a good account of themselves in the previous edition of the tournament, having topped the group en route to the semi-final phase. They lost the semi-final but with the team they have this time around, they will surely look to go a couple of steps beyond.
