Match summary:
Soufriere Sulphur City Stars win by 8 wickets with 9 balls to spare
Shani Mesmain walked in with intent with only one thing in mind - finish the game quickly and give the Net Run Rate a boost! The SSCS captain smashed a quickfire 17 off 5 deliveries to get his team over the line with time to spare. At no stage did the Micoud Eagles were in with a sniff in the run-chase, even after dismissing the two openers.
It certainly didn't help them that their bowlers were off-radar for the most of their spells. They kept spraying the ball past the tramline, down the leg side, and close to the head of the batters, and that was what helped in the runs being piled up for the City Stars. The openers were finding the boundaries every now and then, but they weren't able to strike the ball cleanly, which meant that their dismissals were a blessing in disguise. City Stars wrap this game up with time to spare, and will be pleased with the start to their campaign.
8.3 Kuston Jules to Xytus Emmanuel, THE STARS WIN THIS GAME! Short on off and middle. Emmanuel pulls it towards deep square leg and crosses over for the winning run!
8.2 Kuston Jules to Xytus Emmanuel, short of a length outside off. Emmanuel punches it towards long off from the crease. Couple taken.
8.1 Kuston Jules to Xytus Emmanuel, FOUR! At a length on middle and leg. Emmanuel goes down on his knees and scoops it away over short fine leg for a boundary!
Kuston Jules (1-0-4-0) is back into the attack
SSCS need just 7 in the next two overs to coast home. Should be a walk in the park.
