Aiden Markram (South Africa captain): There were a couple of special performances for us. Klaasen and Miller put a special partnership. We have improved throughout the season. We have improved our standards as well. Bowling in the powerplay was a cause of concern earlier. We managed it well tonight and chopped and changed just enough to inflict the damage. It's a fresh start on Sunday everything to play on. We have to perfect our system and play nicely.
Heinrich Klaasen (Player of the Match): It's a special day. To be honest, I can't remember the last time I played such an innings. Rassie and I thought to play till the 35th over and see what happens then. Unfortunately, he got out then. The wicket got better after then. So, I enjoyed batting then. It was just a normal partnership for us (Miller and Klaasen). The guys in the locker room were asking for 400+ score. The fans are incredible here. They look at us very nicely here.
Mitchell Marsh (Australian captain): Hats off to South Africa, it was a tough day for us. I think due to the size of the ground the teams are able to make a recovery in the back end. Heinrich had a magical day today. I thought 3 down for 150 puts some pressure on the batter and with 6 or 7 down we would have been better. I thought we could bowl Travis Head but didn't bowl. We lost early wickets and didn't stitch many partnerships. Alex Carey played an excellent knock. It was an excellent knock considering that a big tournament is coming up

David Warner hit two boundaries but spooned one straight into the hands of the fielder at 12. That was Lungi Ngidi's first wicket as he would go on to pick three more scalps. An inswinger rapped Mitchell Marsh on the pads at 6. Travis Head fractured his hand at 17 as Australia had early headache.
While Alex Carey continued to pile on boundaries from the other end, Australia kept on losing wickets like a pack of cards. Marnus Labuschagne was the first one to go after edging the ball towards Quinton de Kock at 20. Marcus Stoinis edged at 18. Tim David went for one shot too many and ended up losing his wicket at 35.
Ellis did smack two maximums but it was too little too less in the end. Nothing much that Adam Zampa and Michael Neser could do to chase the mammoth total of 417.
Alex Carey missed out on his century by edging one at 99 as Quinton de Kock flew like a superman to hold on to the catch. Earlier in the day, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller struck a 222-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Klaasen scoring 174 off 83 balls.
Australia were ahead in the worm for the majority of the contest but failed to keep the wickets column in check. In the end, it cost them dearly as South Africa won the game with more than 15 overs to spare.
34.5 Kagiso Rabada to Alex Carey, CAUGHT! CAREY WILL BE STRANDED ON 99! What a disappointment for Carey, who played a fighting knock with all the odds against him. Was short outside the leg stump, Carey looked to pull that one away but got a top edge that de Kock pouches with some extreme guile and athleticism. For formalities sake, Carey decides to review it.
