That will be all from this game. South Africa take a 1-0 lead. This is Dwaipayan Mukherjee, signing off with my hard working co-commentator Lavil Saldanha. See you soon.
Temba Bavuma (Proteas skipper) Pretty satisfied. Tough cricket out there. We were in a challenging position in the first innings, we knew we always felt that the belief was there. We back ourselves to deliver results when we are pushed to the back foot. We saw how the pitch was behaving and saw that the conditions were favourable to seamers, obviously we didn't expect to get wickets that quickly but we knew the conditions were in favour of the bowlers. The wicket changed it's surface so we were tasked to adapt accordingly. We knew it was going to be a toil as Mulder was not available and Gerald not fully fit, but the rest Rabada and Jansen played their part. The medical staff will let us know how best to move forward.
Dhananjaya de Silva ( Sri Lankan skipper) : We lost the plot when we batted in the first innings. Also with the ball, I believe we have challenged the opposition in the first innings, but didn't exert enough pressure in the second half. There was definitely different areas where we could push further. We didn't have time to breathe, Jansen was brilliant with the ball. We look back at that phase and perceive it as a one-off. We had a bit of plans in the second innings, it worked but it was too late. Those are actions that we would want to replicate as we go deeper into the series. In the past as well, we have batted well in these conditions and it is only in the first innings we didn't do well.
Marco Jansen (Player of the match for 11/86 in the match): I have always thought of five wickets, never ever thought of 10. It is every bowler's dream. I don't think about it; it is just a good job for me. In the second innings, the pitch was a bit low and slow. The ball was doing a bit, but a dream to 11 wickets here. That was a training period for me to get fitter. The body feels much stronger, and the mind feels much better. Don't know how will I celebrate, will know it later
South Africa win by 233 runs - Sri Lanka are 282 all out in the 2nd innings
No wickets in the opening half an hour since the lunch break as Jansen and Maharaj started the proceedings.
Gerald Coetzee was the first change after 8 overs in the middle session. He is developing into the type of middle session enforcer that every team needs. His pace and bounce might trouble the Asian players.
And that is exactly what happened when he dismissed Chandimal to effect the first wicket of the session. Maharaj's consistency and discipline paid off as he got Vishwa Fernando edged to first slip as hosts came within the last couple of wickets to win.
It did not take long for them as Marco Jansen quite deservingly cleaned things up for the last wicket of the match as South Africa put an end to this match in an extremely comprehensive manner. Presentations to follow.
79.4 Marco Jansen to Asitha Fernando, KNOCKED HIM OVER! JANSEN ENDS THE MATCH! Length delivery into the batter on that occasion, Fernando misses that one and the ball takes the off stump along with it. Jansen ends with 11 wickets as South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 233 runs to register their first win over this game's opponents at Durban!
