Varun Chakaravarthy: My heart-beat was almost touching 200. (About the impact of the rain) Definitely, the ball was slipping a lot. My best bet was the longer side. (Whether Sunil Narine and Varun plan to not show emotions) Nothing like that, it is very important to stay in the process. If the emotions set in, you might get carried away. (Regarding changes from the previous season) Last year, I was only bowling 85 kmph. I realized that once my revolutions go down, my pace also goes down. So, worked on that.

Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders captain): We didn't bowl well during the middle overs. Shardul and Vaibhav's gamble turned the game for us. (Who was the bigger scalp amongst Markram and Klaasen) Both the moments were turning points. Thought initially Shardul could bowl the final over but I still had doubts about using a fast bowler. Then turned to the best bowler at that moment which was Varun. All of them, Sunny (Sunil Narine), Varun and Suyash are main spinners. I see who is bowling well at that particular moment and back the best one

Shardul Thakur: That is what is expected out of me. The stage was set and I needed to get a wicket or two. Well captain had a fielding should I bowl Varun Chakravarthy. As a bowler I have to give confidence to the captain so I asked him t go with whatever intuition he had. We had to execute the length balls here to be fine. If you see previous games something used to happen we used to lose matches from winning postiion.s A few injuries here and there so the win was very important. I thought maybe i this sort of a pitch and I wanted to go for a slow off-cutter. When I went to bat I quickly understood that it's stopping and coming.

Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper): Yeah it is Ravi. We played good cricket for the large part of the game but couldn’t quite step on in the crunch situations. The partnerships could have dragged a bit longer. The guys threw themselves on the field. We managed to set up some partnership bt it wasn’t enough to get us over the line. It’s a tough one, you can learn from it pretty much your execution. The guys have played enough cricket to make out when to do what. Hopefully its a situation that brings us the best out of us. To not get the two points is not ideal. Four out of four and we need to come out well.

That must be very disappointing for SRH given they have almost dragged a loss out of nowhere. They should have possibly won the game with an over to spare! After restricting KKR to 171-9, SRH got off to a brisk start with Mayank Agarwal taking the attack to the KKR seamers. However, Harshit Rana got rid of Agarwal with a fantastic short ball in the third over.

In the very next over, Shardul Thakur also got the better of Abhishek Sharma as KKR struck back-to-back. Rahul Tripathi still tried to counter-attack but Andre Russell had the last laugh as the batter scooped a slower delivery straight down the throat of fine-leg. The situation got even better for KKR in the seventh over as Anukul Roy trapped Harry Brook in front with SRH making good use of the DRS. This is when Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen joined forced to build a key partnership. While Markram tried to bat steadily, Klaasen stepped on the gas by striking a couple of sixes off Anukul's bowling in the 11th over.

SRH built on it with two more good overs as the asking rate came down to just eight runs per over. Nitish Rana needed a wicket and he turned to Shardul with the pacer getting Klaasen to hole out to deep mid-wicket. The over still turned out to be expensive as Markram and Abdul Samad managed a boundary each! SRH required only 27 off 20 balls when Markram tried to go big but he only found the safe hands of Rinku Singh at long-off as Vaibhav Arora gave a crucial breakthrough. Varun CV followed it up with an economical over while Rahmanullah Gurbaz plucked out an unbelievable one-handed catch to get rid of Marco Jansen in the penultimate over. However, once again, SRH managed to produce a couple of boundaries with the equation coming down to 9 required off the last 6 balls.

Nitish looked like he would go with Shardul for the key final over but he changed his mind and handed the ball over to Varun CV. The mystery spinner struck off the third delivery as Samad miscued the pull shot to deep mid-wicket as KKR grew in confidence. Varun kept his composure and ensured that the duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mayank Markande couldn't find the fence as KKR managed to sneak a thrilling five-run win!

19.6 Varun Chakravarthy to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, KKR has snatched it from the jaws of defeat. Varun with a back of a length delivery again, Bhuvi swipes across the line and doesn't connect. They have come from behind and have registered a famous victory. What a final over from Varun Chakravarthy.

19.5 Varun Chakravarthy to Mayank Markande, that was a tossed up delivery on a length around middle, Markande tries to hit this down the ground but ends up slicing it from the outside half and falls well short of the long-on fielder. Just a single taken.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz' intensity has also worked well with his keeping. He has been flawless in the last few overs

19.4 Varun Chakravarthy to Mayank Markande, Markande misses the attempted ramp towards the fine leg region. Gets inside the line of the ball to ramp it but doesn't get any contact. Gurbaz has whipped off the bails and have asked for a stumping. Did Markande lift his feet there?

Third umpire will check for ultra-edge first. Clearly huge gap between bat and pad, no bat involved. Off to side o angle for stumping. It seems like Markande has just managed to make his ground when the balls lights up. Markande survives but still 7 required off 2.

19.3 Varun Chakravarthy to Abdul Samad, WICKET! Chakravarthy strikes and Samad has to take the long walk back to the pavilion. This game is still open though but it gets very difficult for SRH. Again into the surface from Varun asking Samad to swipe across the line, gets it from the inside half of the bat and carries all the way to the deep square leg fielder. A great catch under pressure from Anukul Roy.

19.2 Varun Chakravarthy to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, just a single. On a length around the leg stump, trickles off Bhuvi's thigh pads towards the on side for a leg bye single.
