Thanks a lot for joining us here at Sportskeeda for this excellent game in the WPL! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did bringing it to you. Until next time, ciao and take care!
Marizanne Kapp (Player of the Match): I am very happy with this win. It wasn't quite a good ball to bowl to Vrinda. In the last couple of months, I have not been very happy with my bowling. I have worked hard and tried to make a few changes. Luckily, it has worked well. I love bowling with the new ball, and since I was going well, I bowled the fourth as well.
Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals' captain): I thought it was an excellent peformance. Kapp was incredible as she took three wickets. Radha Yadav also picked some crucial wickets. Was nice to watch Shafali bat from the other end. Nice to watch her smashing sixes from the other end. It's more about keeping it simple, it's about encouraging her to play to her strengths. Radha has been bowling well, she wanted to be competitive today. She had the look in her eyes.
Shafali Verma: Feeling good, couldn't do it last time, felt better and wanted to finish the game but did it this today. Last game too, I was able to time well, but couldn't get the innings going, built it this time and got what I wanted. It's a good feeling to bat with your skipper, she helps all the time, backs me as well.
Alyssa Healy (UP Warriorz' captain): (About the spin heavy attack Healy said during toss) We don't have a lot of pace bowling options anyway, was a 50-50 call anyway, the wicket got better at the second half of the game, we just didn't execute well with the ball. (About the batting performance of tonight) Put a few more runs on the board, losing early wicket in the powerplay, Kappy bowled exceptionally well, it was holding up a fraction, we couldn't get going with the tempo we wanted. It's not about being reckless, but about decision making has to be smart, ultimately you got to bat with high temp but running between wickets, we weren't great at that either, just got to be better in two nights from now. You need to reflect on how we played tonight, we played well last game but we were outclassed completely in this game, it's an opportunity for us to turn up better in the next game. We've got a lot of choices, we need to make harder decisions every game, might need to bring in Chamari Athapaththu, it'll all come up in conversations in two nights time.
Thus comes to an end a dominating and all-round performance by the Delhi Capitals as they thump the UP Warriorz by 9 wickets. They should have got home with all ten wickets in hand, but for Meg Lanning's wicket off the final stage of the game.
Marizanne Kapp and Radha Yadav starred for them with the ball in hand and skipper Lanning and Verma stitched together a fine partnership with the bat to ensure that UP did not get to strike early and disturb their rhythm. Delhi were by far the better side on display in this game.
UP have a lot of problems to solve, not least the poor showing by their foreign players with the bat in hand. The likes of Alyssa Healy and Grace Harris have to take up more responsibility to make sure that they have to take their team home from challenging situations and not give in early.
And that will be that!
14.3 Sophie Ecclestone to Jemimah Rodrigues, FOUR! THUMPING WIN FOR DELHI CAPITALS! Could've been a 10 wicket win, but Delhi will take this victory with both hands. Length delivery on the off-stump, Rodrigues paddles it fine down to fine-leg and it finds the ropes. Plenty to ponder for UP Warriorz though!
14.2 Sophie Ecclestone to Meg Lanning, OUT! VRINDA DINESH PULLS OFF A BLINDER! Delhi can't finish with a 10 wicket win now, Lanning perishes. Drops it short on the stumps, Lanning swipes it in the air. Vrinda at backward square-leg, diving to her left clings on to a stunner. Vrinda makes amends for the dropped catch from earlier!
Meg Lanning c Vrinda Dinesh b Sophie Ecclestone 51 (43b 6x4 0x6)
14.1 Sophie Ecclestone to Meg Lanning, NOW FIFTY FOR LANNING! Good length on the fourth stump, Lanning waits and opens the face of the blade, dabs it down to third-man. Fielder gives the chase and manages to parry it back, they come back for a couple as Lanning brings up her fifty.
Sophie Ecclestone [3-0-25-0] is back into the attack.
It is just a matter of time now...

13.6 Poonam Khemnar to Shafali Verma, loopy full delivery on the stumps, Shafali gets forward to defend.
13.5 Poonam Khemnar to Shafali Verma, length delivery on the pads, Shafali flicked it straight to square-leg for another dot.
13.4 Poonam Khemnar to Shafali Verma, quicker through the air, length delivery on the off-stump. Shafali flicked it to short mid-wicket.
13.3 Poonam Khemnar to Shafali Verma, SIX MORE! Shafali is in real hurry to wrap this up here. Down the track for the length delivery, Shafali gets to the pitch of the ball and smokes it all the way over long-on for a maximum.
13.2 Poonam Khemnar to Meg Lanning, floated a full delivery on the off-stump, Lanning leans to drive, but skews off the inside edge into the on-side for one.
13.1 Poonam Khemnar to Meg Lanning, OH! Sloppy work in the field continues for UP> Drops it short outside the off-stump, Lanning cuts it hard, but straight to covers and let's it through, but they don't take the single.
Poonam Khemnar, right arm leg break, is the new bowler.
Delhi need just six more runs to win this game! They have dominated proceedings without much hassle in this game, and deserve to win it.
