Commentary

That brings us to the end of our coverage for the match and it also brings curtains down to a well fought series between two power packed teams. Like always, it was a pleasure bringing all the live coverage from this encounter. A lot of cricketing action lined up later today. For now, this is me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) bidding adieu on the behalf of my fellow commentator Probuddha. Cheers!

Rovman Powell (West Indies captain): Special thanks to the people of Trinidad and Tobago for coming out in the last two days to support us. We had a few meetings and we knew we are still a better bowling attack. We knew Shai Hope would be the most important wickets as we kept losing wickets. A score of 35 40 run a ball served us very well. Credit goes to the groundsmen for producing very good wickets. In the past we have been unhappy with the groundwork but credit where it is due. Gudakesh Motie was playing his first T20I series and he bowled brilliantly and rose to the occasion. I just think I have a good bunch of guys and a very good support staff. The guys trust me and trust my judgement.

Jos Buttler (England Captain): Yeah thought the conditions were different and we didn't adapt quickly enough. We needed atleast 160. It was a really good effort with the ball. If we had a few more runs, the result could have been different. Salt has batted brilliantly and even today he was looking set for a big one. Everyone got runs pretty quickly in the previous game but it was not the same today. Yeah I think the breeze plays a big part. Six hitting is a premium one here. We would have loved to win the series but it's always great playing in the Caribbean.

Philip Salt (Player of the Series): Yeah it's disappointing to come out on the wrong side. Shai played a brilliant knock. I feel good at the minute. More time in the set, learning from Jos. International cricket has been a learning curve for me and I will like to take it on the stride. In these parts of the world, it's very different when it comes to toss different to England.

Gudakesh Motie (Player of the match): For me it was not difficult because I know my ability and the pitch was helping me a little bit. All I needed to do was hit the right areas. I have been working on it for some years and that is my job. I think Test cricket is the most challenging as it tests your skills. It is my second series and it feels really special to win this against England. Thank You!!!

West Indies had to huff and puff a bit and eventually, it turned out to be a humdinger of a run chase as they chased the target or 133 with just 4 deliveries to spare and with 5 wickets in hand. England started well with the ball but the target was a bit too small for them to challenge the star-studded middle order and the lower middle order of the West Indies batting lineup. Johnson Charles and Brandon King came out with a purpose as West Indies raced off to 20 in the first two overs.

Charles in particular took the attack to Chris Woakes in the second over to give the Windies the much-needed start. Brandon King tried to continue the onslaught and ended up miscuing a length delivery around middle straight to the mid-on fielder. Nicholas Pooran started well with a flat six before chopping a back-of-a-length delivery from Chris Woakes onto his stumps. The partnership between Johnson Charles and Shai Hope took West Indies to a position of safety before Charles chipped an easy full toss straight to the extra cover fielder.

Still, the required rate was well in control and all West Indies needed was to bat sensibly. The pair of Hope and Sherfane Rutherford added 41 runs to take the game deep and close to the victory target. Rutherford gave his wicket away to a juicy half-volley but had taken his team within the threshold of the target. Shai Hope played the sheet anchor's role to perfection and stayed there till the end to see West Indies through.

However, when Sam Curran bowled a splendid penultimate over, conceding just two runs and taking the wicket of Russell, it looked like England would scrape through an unlikely victory but it was again the man of the hour Shai Hope who held his nerves and drilled Chris Woakes for a massive six over extra cover to win it for West Indies with four deliveries to spare. For England, Topley and Rashid were the pick of the bowlers, bagging two apiece while Hope top scored for the home team with a run a ball 43.

Shai Hope, you beauty. Showing his power when needed and calming the nerves at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. He read the situation perfectly, waited for his time and eventually drills it over extra covers for a maximum. When it really mattered, the magical shot was unleashed as West Indies goes onto win the series 3-2. England knew at the halfway stage that they were short of a decent score but the bowlers did make a good account of themselves.

19.2 Chris Woakes to Shai Hope, SIX!!! That is it. West Indies have won the match and with that the series. What a game this has been!!! Hope does it for his team. Full ball outside the off stump. Hope goes down on one knee and slices it over the extra cover region for maximum to win the match for his team.

This is brilliant bit of work by Rehan Ahmed. This one run saved could still be crucial with five balls still remaining. He gave it absolutely everything. This has turned out to be a humdinger as we reach the closure of this series.

19.1 Chris Woakes to Jason Holder, full ball outside the off stump. Holder shuffles across the stumps and goes for the big heave. But he gets an inside edge to fine leg for three runs.

That's a terrific over from Sam Curran just when the doctor ordered a very tight over for England. Just two runs coming off that over along with the massive wicket of Andre Russell. Before this over, not many would have given England a chance but now, they are more than in with a chance.

What a massive wicket this could be in the context of the game. That was a full toss, it has the height but not the distance.iam Livingstone was almost in a prayer position and is still in a same position after taking the catch. What an exceptional over this has been. Can England come from behind and win this in dramatic fashion?

18.5 Sam Curran to Andre Russell, WICKET!!!! The pressure gets in the head of Russell. Curran strikes and it feels like there is still a twist left in this tale. Low full toss at the middle stump. Russell looks to heave that over long-on but gets a top edge to be taken by Livingstone in the deep.

This is very good bowling from Sam Curran. A good bumper and he has already bowled three dot balls in this over. 10 required off 8 deliveries.

18.4 Sam Curran to Andre Russell, bouncer at the middle stump. Russell looks to hook that but gets the under edge onto the deck. Three dots on the trot for Curran.
