A result that seemed inevitable after a point but that was a terrific fighting effort from Wettingen. Chasing a mammoth 150 was never going to be easy but they gave it absolutely everything from the word go and looked to target every bowler in sight.

A 23-run opening over signaled their intentions quite clearly even as Nareshkumar Thangavadivel was bowled by the end of it. The runs kept coming, however, with the batters looking to swing for the bleachers and deal with it in fours and sixes and alone. Thivagaran Selvanayagam went about it pretty well although it was skipper Perinpam Yogenthiran, on the back of a three-wicket haul with the ball, who looked in ominous touch.

The Nomads just needed a couple of tight overs to pull things back and they got them in the form of Tharanitharan Thanabalasingham's left-arm spin. He not only kept things very tight, but he also nabbed a couple of key wickets to derail the chase and send the asking rate shooting up to gargantuan proportions. Yogenthiran continued to swing hard though as he notched up a blistering half-century. But the writing was on the wall once he was dismissed, leaving the rest with plenty to do.

Eventually, the Nomads have pocketed a pretty handsome victory by 29 runs to get off the mark for the tournament. It was set up by Hassan Ahmad's magnificent 29-ball 98 and they will hope that this spurs them on in the coming games. As for Wettingen, they've now suffered their second loss in the tournament but must take the positives out of it and roar back stronger.
