Manu-Saurabh crash out of Q2 in 10m Air Pistol mixed doubles event; Yashaswini-Abhishek fail to qualify for second stage

Both Indian teams are knocked out of the event. The Indian group, consisting of Yashaswini Singh Deswal & Abhishek Verma were knocked out of the event, having finished at 17th rank with 564 points in the Qualification Stage 1. The other team, consisting of the likes of Manu Bhaker & Saurabh Chaudhary got through the first stage of the event courtesy of bagging 582. They finished first in Qualification Stage 1 but fell apart in the second stage of the qualification event.

They managed to get only 380 points and finished 7th in Qualification Stage 2. With that poor position, the Indian duo were knocked out of the event and thus India's chances of winning a medal were done and dusted.

Scores of 94 and 98 in the second series for Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary. They end up with a total of 380, which is nowhere nearly close enough to even ensure India a fight for even a bronze medal. A sad ending for two brilliant athletes, who were one of the best bets for India to win a medal!

Manu Bhaker gets two 8's and there go India's chance of a medal in Pistol shooting. Heartbreaking for Manu as she was doing so well throughout the series, but the pressure got to her, and she fell short.

Manu Bhaker gets an 8 and India slips to the eighth position. A lot of nerves at the moment for the young Indian dup. Manu Bhaker follows with a 9 and an 8, whereas Saurabh Chaudhary gets in a couple of 10's. With that, India climbs up and reaches the 7th position.

A brace of 10's from Manu Bhaker with her next two shots, whereas Saurabh Chaudhary gets in a brace of 9's. The Indian team are in the bottom half of the team. They'll hope that the other shooters make a mistake, which would help them climb up the points table.

Right then, we're back with the Qualification Stage 2 underway! Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary will shoot from firing points 27 & 28, respectively.

In this stage, each shooter gets 20 shots each, with the top teams making it to the Gold Medal match. The third and fourth teams will fight for the bronze medal. The bottom four teams will be eliminated from the event.

Let's hope the Indian duo can finish in the top two, which will guarantee a medal for India for sure.

Yashaswini Deswal finishes with 281 and Abhishek Verma with 283, and a combined total of 564. They finish on the 17th place and have been knocked out of the tournament.

A fantastic first stage of qualification for Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary who finish with individual scores of 286 and 296 (out of a possible 300) and a team score of 582, just one more than the second ranked teams from Russia and China who are tied at 281.

Manu Bhaker finishes her third series, exactly like her first, with five 9's and five 10's each. Finishes with 95.

Saurabh Chaudhary get's a near perfect score again, with two 9's and eight 10's to finish with 98.

Abhishek Verma finishes his third series with a score of 97, his best so far. Manages to get seven 10's and three 9's.

His partner Yashaswini Deswal though, manages more of 9's. Five in a row to start with, and two more to finish with. Two 10's and an 8 to finish her third series with 91.

Saurabh Chuaudhry is quick to start with the third series, bags in a 9 among four 10's to break his streak of consecutive 10's.

Manu Bhaker gets in two 9's and three 10's to finish her second series with a score of 94, three less than the first, but her partner has helped cover that up with a perfect score. They still sit pretty at the top.

Abhishek Verma finishes his second series with three 10's and two 9's in the latter half, finishes with a total of 94.

Yashaswini Deswal gets in her first 8, among a couple of 9's and 10's to wrap up her second series with a score of 95.

The top eight teams in Qualification stage 1 advance to Qualification stage 2. Both Indian teams will look to finish in the top eight.

Abhishek Verma fights back strong after the lone 7, and ends the first series on a high, getting in four consecutive 10's to wrap it up. Deswal on the other hand, plays between the 9 and 10, ending up five of each to end the first series.
