It's hard to believe this man is the underdog

Don Callis gave AEW fans a prophecy for the Owen Hart Cup this year. It would be dominated by The Family, with an all-Family final in Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita.

...so far, so good for Callis.

Another knee cracks the back of King's skull, and Takeshita finishes it with a third knee to the face.

Konosuke Takeshita defeats Brody King via pinfall.

Takeshita and King meet in the middle. Takeshita gets the better of King and spikes him with the belly-to-back package piledriver!! A wheelbarrow German suplex and a lariat are not enough to keep this monster down. A running knee won't do it...and King kicks out of a second knee!! "The knee that beat Tanahashi is not enough to beat Brody King!" exclaims Nigel.

A blue thunder bomb plants King. It's not enough, and neither is Takeshita's lariat!! King withstands a pair of lariats before taking Takeshita out with a discus forearm!! A short-arm clothesline takes Takeshita's head off, and King follows with Dante's Inferno (Emerald Flowsion)!!

Somehow, some way, Takeshita kicks out!!

Takeshita, again, tries to trade strikes with Brody. He's laid out once again. Third time's the charm? Turns out that's the case. A discus lariat drops King, and Takeshita gets a nearfall.

Takeshita has crawled to the corner and is terrified to turn around. He should be.

Brody rushes in for the cannonball!! Takeshita blocks a powerbomb attempt, and the two trade shots. Again, that powerbomb advantage gives Brody the edge with a chop that drops Takeshita to his knees.

Takeshita's got the wrestling edge, but the pure power advantage of King may be too much to overcome. King spikes Takeshita on the apron with a Death Valley Driver early in this one. It's just two men throwing their biggest weapons at each other.

Takeshita baits out King's running cannonball in the corner of the barricade, rocking the big man with a pump knee to the jaw. A tope con hilo follows. Both men are down on the floor, and Julia Hart is worried for her stablemate, Brody King.

The final match of tonight is set. Our main event. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Brody King. The Alpha vs. The Hound.

Sole Food stuns Athena, but she counters a running boot with a pair of powerbombs. A pumphandle powerbomb is turned into a knee strike, and Athena finishes the match with the O-Face.

Harley Cameron goes for a diving crossbody. Athena catches her and tries to turn it into a powerbomb, but Cameron (awkwardly) shifts into a hurricanrana. After a superwoman punch stuns Athena, Cameron hits a high-angle back suplex. HER FINISHING MOVE is set up, but Athena cartwheels out of it.

Athena spends the entire commercial break slowly working over Cameron. The fan favorite is doing her best to continue, but it feels like a foregone conclusion here. Athena traps Harley in a Bow and Arrow. Somehow, Harley breaks out and gets a near fall on the ROH Women's Champion!! Athena ends her train of momentum with a running thrust kick to the jaw.

Athena is getting a bit more than she expected from Mercedes' "best friend." Harley Cameron chokes Athena out in the ropes with her legs, but the Fallen Goddess turns things around with a backbreaker onto the apron. A wheelbarrow suplex plants Cameron on the floor as we cut to commercial.

Athena and Harley Cameron are out next for the final first-round match in the Women's Owen Hart Cup.

Garcia checks on Menard while leaving his back turned to FTR. The 10-time tag champions leave at first...but then rush the ring to take out Garcia with a spike piledriver. Cash goes up for another, but they're stopped by security. Dax and Cash start attacking them, but the day is FINALLY saved by The Paragon (Undisputed Kingdom's new name).

Daddy Magic is being demolished. FTR is destroying these guys. Shatter Machine to Parker. Spike Piledriver to Matt Menard. Another one. Daniel Garcia tries to stop them before they go for a third. Cash pins Menard to, thankfully, put this to rest.

FTR defeat 2point0 via pinfall.

Before this match, we saw a promo from the Gates of Agony. They want the AEW Tag Titles. "You Hurt People. We BREAK People!"

FTR and 2point0 are out next. Before the match, Daniel Garcia's music hits...but who is he there for? FTR uses the distraction to jump 2point0. Dax quickly bloodies Daddy Magic, while Cool Hand Angelo Parker is laid out on the floor by Cash. Garcia simply watches on.

Knight launches Fox off the top with a hurricanrana and hits the rolling DDT. The springboard clothesline connects, and Knight earns a great win over a tough veteran.

Fox blocks the rolling blockbuster and follows Knight up top for Lo Mein Pain (Springboard Spanish Fly)!! 450 Splash connects!!

SOMEHOW Knight kicks out!!

Back from the commercial, Knight catches Fox with the best standing dropkick in the business. Fox gets to the corner where Knight batters him with punches, forearms, and kicks. A massive sky-high-style sit-out spinebuster nearly earns Knight the win.

A running dropkick to a seated Knight earns Fox another near fall, but he cannot put his opponent away. The Jet is grounded, though, so it's still in Fox's control.

Fox sends Knight to the apron and hits a rope-assisted 450 stomp to the gut as we cut to the break. Fox hits an incredible spinning brainbuster in the middle of the ring but doesn't go for the cover.

"BOW DOWN!!" If Toni Storm truly got lucky...who can stop this woman?

Kevin Knight and AR Fox are out next for what should be an exciting, high-flying, and fast-paced bout. Knight avoids a leaping hurricanrana, follows with a sliding shoulder block, and hits a leaping Frog Splash for an early two-count.

Bayne destroys both their opponents while Penelope Ford watches on from the floor. The Megasus plants LMK on the mat and drops Kelly Madan on top of her with Fate's Descent (F-5).

A 450 Stomp from Christian earns another close call. Christian bounces off the ropes for a stunner, but he can't secure a pinfall. Christian goes for a fameasser, but Bowens avoids it. Christian bounces off the ropes with a handspring and is met with a devastating superkick!!
Billy Gunn attacks Lee Johnson to stop any more interference, and Bowens hammers Christian with the Mollywhop (Discus forearm) for the win!!

Bowens drops Christian again, but Christian's partner, Lee Johnson, puts his foot on the rope to save the match. Christian avoids a back body drop, shoves Bowens into the ropes, and hits him on the rebound with a standing Spanish Fly!! What an incredible combination.

A kicking combination stuns Christian, and Bowens follows with a leaping float-over Fameasser. The Grand Slam connects, and Christian just barely kicks out.
