Dmitry Bivol stands as one of the best active boxers today. He is currently the WBA(Super) and the IBF light heavyweight champion of the world with a record of 23 wins (12KOs) and no losses in his career so far. The 33-year-old Russian boxer made his professional debut in 2014 and there has not been a turning back ever since. And over the years, he has squared off against some of the prominent names in boxing like Canelo Alvarez, Gilberto Ramirez, Umar Salamov, Joe Smith Jr., Craig Richards, Jean Pascal, etc.

Bivol has immense love for his coach and took it to his Instagram for Gushianov’s birthday claiming his affection for his trainer. He also mentioned that his job is comparatively easier than that of his coach as he just needs to follow the plan of action laid out by Gennady Gushianov. Whereas, Gushianov needs to plan out how his disciple needs to outperform the competitors inside the ring and out.

Dmitry Bivol's early life

Dmitry Bivol was born in Kyrgyzstan and has his father’s roots coming from Moldova and his mother’s roots from Korea. Later when he was 11 years old, the family shifted to Saint Petersburg in Russia. Even before shifting to St. Petersburg, Bivol had started training in boxing at the age of 6.

Before turning PRO, Dmitry was considered a decorated boxer with two national championship medals in the under-seventeen category. Moreover, the Russian boxer had an amateur record of 268 wins and 15 losses.
