George Kambosos Jr. was born in Sydney, Australia on June 14, 1993. He is an Australian professional boxer with a record of 21 wins and 2 losses (21-2-0) who competes in the lightweight division. During his early years, Kambosos played junior rugby league for the Gymea Gorillas. However, he faced bullying due to being overweight.

To improve his fitness and combat the bullying, his father enrolled him in boxing classes when he was just 11 years old. Kambosos quickly shed the excess weight and found himself at a crossroads as a teenager: he had to choose between boxing and rugby league. Ultimately, chose to pursue a career in boxing.

Kambosos made his professional boxing debut in May 2013, defeating Filipino fighter Jayson Mac Gura via a second-round technical knockout. He continued to rise through the ranks, capturing titles such as the WBA Oceania and IBF Pan Pacific. His impressive record also includes 10 wins by knockout. Kambosos has held multiple titles like the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles from 2021 to 2022. Currently, Kambosos is the IBO lightweight world champion and ranks among the top lightweights globally. His next bout is scheduled against Ukraine’s Vasiliy Lomachenko on May 11, 2024, at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
