Daniel ‘Dynamite’ Dubois was born on September 6, 1997, in Greenwich, London. He is a British professional heavyweight boxer with a reputation for knocking out his opponents. As of February 12, 2025, his record stands at 22 wins and 2 losses (22-2-0), with 21 knockouts. The British fighter began boxing when he was barely nine years old and as an amateur in his early career, he won five national junior titles. Turning pro in 2017, he signed up with promoter Frank Warren. Dubois won his pro debut in 35 seconds and in 2019, he won the British, Commonwealth, and WBO International heavyweight titles to stamp his credentials as one of the leading heavyweight contenders. He suffered his first defeat in 2020 against Joe Joyce, when he sustained a fractured orbital bone and lost via KO in the tenth round.

Dubois bounced back by stopping Trevor Bryan to capture the WBA Regular Heavyweight Title in 2022 and successfully defended it once. In August 2023, he got a shot against Oleksandr Usyk for multiple heavyweight titles but lost via a controversial stoppage in round nine. But despite this, Dubois is considered one of the greatest contenders in the heavyweight division, with his next fight scheduled against Joseph Parker on February 22, 2025.

Daniel Dubois Losses

Daniel Dubois has only lost twice in his professional boxing career, against the likes of Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk. Let’s take a deeper look at his losses.

Daniel Dubois vs. Joe Joyce

Daniel Dubois was handed his first professional loss by Joe Joyce on November 28, 2020. Dubois' left eye began swelling shut by the midway point of the fight due to Joyce's accurate and persistent jab. By the 10th round, Dubois could no longer see out of the injured eye, and a final jab forced him to take a knee, leading to a knockout at 36 seconds in the tenth round. Despite being the favorite, Dubois struggled with Joyce’s experience and precise jabs. Joyce's calm, tactical approach helped him control the fight, while Dubois' power wasn’t enough to turn the tide in his favor.

Daniel Dubois vs. Oleksandr Usyk

Daniel Dubois’s second loss was against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk on August 26, 2024. The fight started with Usyk controlling the pace using his jab, while Dubois struggled to land clean shots. In the fifth round, controversy arose when Dubois appeared to knock Usyk down with a body shot, but it was ruled a low blow, giving Usyk time to recover. As the rounds progressed, Usyk’s superior movement and accuracy began to overwhelm Dubois. In the eighth round, Usyk dropped Dubois with a combination, and in the ninth, a short right hand finished the fight. After the knockout, Usyk consoled Dubois, showing sportsmanship.
