Jiri Prochazka made his octagon debut against the former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 251. He knocked out Oezdemir at 0:49 in the second round and won the ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus for his showcase. For his second bout, Prochazka faced another former light heavyweight title challenger, Dominick Reyes, and won the bout via a spinning back elbow kick in the second round. Hence, Prochazka was given a title shot against Glover Teixeira, who was the reigning champion back then.

The Czech, with his astonishing ground game, submitted Teixeira in the fifth round via a rear naked choke submission and became the UFC light heavyweight champion in Kallang, Singapore, at UFC 275. The fight also earned him a performance bonus and was awarded as the ‘Fight of the Year’ in 2022. However, Prochazka had to vacate his championship due to a shoulder injury, which kept him away from the octagon for more than a year.

Prochazka faced Alex Pereira for the UFC light heavyweight title but lost the bout via a second-round TKO.

For his last outing, Prochazka TKO'd Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 300 on April 13, 2024.

Moreover, the former champion is set to face Alex Pereira once again for the light heavyweight gold at UFC 303 on June 29, 2024.
