For his last showdown, Jiri Prochazka faced the divisional champion Alex Pereira for the light heavyweight gold at UFC 303. Within 13 seconds into the second round, Pereira TKO'd Prochazka with a head kick followed by punches. Jiri Prochazka's early life and career
Jiří Procházka started his combat sports journey at age 16 when he started training in Muay Thai and won a national championship in 2011.
Procházka eventually transitioned to MMA and made his MMA debut at GFC 10 against Stanislav Futera. He won the fight in the first minute via KO (punch). Jiří Procházka followed it up by winning his next three fights before losing to Bojan Velickovic at SFC 1 via first-round TKO, which is also the first professional loss of his mixed martial arts career.
Jiří Procházka bounced back to amass a 2-fight win streak before suffering a loss against Abdul Kerim Edilov via first-round rear-naked choke submission. He next defeated Oliver Dohring at RTC 4.
Jiří fought Martin Šolc at GCF 26 for the inaugural GCF light heavyweight championship. He knocked out Šolc in the third round via a flying knee to win the inaugural GFC light heavyweight championship. Jiří Procházka's stint at Rizin
Jiří Procházka made his Rizin debut at the Rizin World Grand Prix 2015: 100-Kilogram Tournament. He won the quarterfinal fight against Satoshi Ishii via KO and the semifinal against Vadim Nemkov via TKO (retirement). He failed to win the final fight against Muhammed Lawal, as Lawal KO'ed him with a punch at 5:09 in the very first round of the bout.
Jiří Procházka went on to win his next fight against Kazuyuki Fujita at Rizin 1 on April 17, 2016, followed by entering the World Grand Prix in 2016. Procházka defeated Mark Tanios in the opening round via unanimous decision but suffered a knee injury during the fight that resulted in his pulling out of the tournament.
Jiří Procházka returned to fight after a year at FN 16 against Willian Roberto Alves, whom he defeated via TKO (punches) at 3:41 in the first round. He then defeated Karl Albrektsson at the Rizin World Grand Prix 2017: in the second round. Jiří Procházka made his UFC debut at UFC 251 against Volkan Oezdemir on July 12, 2020. He next fought Dominick Reyes at the UFC on ESPN: Reyes vs. Jiří Procházka on May 1, 2021. Jiří Procházka showcased a striking masterclass as he dominated Reyes with his Muay Thai skills and ended him in the second round with a spinning back elbow to earn the Fight of the Night bonus alongside his victory.
Jiří Procházka locked horns with Glover Teixeira at UFC 275 for the light heavyweight title on June 12, 2022. He stunned Teixeira by clutching him in a rear naked choke in the closing moments of the fight, which resulted in Teixeira's submission. Procházka became the new Light Heavyweight Champion and was scheduled to square off against Teixeira in a rematch at UFC 282. A grueling shoulder injury forced him to withdraw from the bout and vacate his light heavyweight belt.
He returned after over a year to face Alex Pereira in the main event of UFC 295 for the vacant light heavyweight title. Jiří Procházka came up short in the fight and was defeated by Pereira via second-round TKO to win the light heavyweight title.
