Leon Edwards is an English combat sports athlete active in professional mixed martial arts. He competes in the welterweight weight division of the leading professional mixed martial arts promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), to which he is signed as a professional competitor.

Born on August 25, 1991, in Kingston, Jamaica, Leon Edwards moved to Aston, Birmingham, when he was a kid. He lost his father at the age of 13, and his life took a plummet. He got drawn to gang culture. At the age of 17, his mother made him join a gym, and his training in mixed martial arts started. After attending some classes, his trainers identified his natural prowess as a mixed martial artist and applauded him for his combat abilities.

At the age of 18, a year later, when he started training, Leon Edwards made his amateur debut against Carl Booth. He defeated him with an impressive second-round submission with the help of an armbar. Edward made his professional debut in mixed martial arts in 2011.

In his debut showdown, he squared off against Damian Zlotnicki at Fight UK MM: Fight UK 4. He dispatched Zlotnicki in the very first round by displaying an aggressive fight with first-round TKOs (punches). Edwards started his career with a dominant victory and has since gone on to compile a record of 22 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw to his name. Besides his impressive record, he also reigns as the current welterweight champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as of July 2024.
