David Benavidez, born on December 17, 1996, is an American boxer born in Phoenix, Arizona, to a Mexican father and Ecuadorian mother. Known by the nicknames "El Bandera Roja" and "The Mexican Monster", Benavidez began boxing at the age of three years and had a great amateur run with a record of 15–0. Standing at 6 feet 0.5 inches tall with a reach of 74.5 inches, Benavidez fights in the orthodox stance. He has competed in both super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions. As of January 2025, he has an undefeated professional record of 29 wins, with 24 victories coming by way of knockout as of January 2025.

Benavidez made history in 2017 by becoming the youngest super middleweight world champion at age 20, winning the WBC super middleweight title. He has been a two-time WBC super middleweight titleholder between 2017 and 2020 and the current WBC interim light heavyweight titleholder since June 2024. His last fight was on June 15, 2024, when he won the vacant WBC interim light heavyweight title against Oleksandr Gvozdyk. Benavidez won the fight by a unanimous decision after 12 rounds of boxing.
