The 33-year-old New Zealand-born Australian mixed martial artist, Robert Whittaker, kicked off his UFC career in 2012 against Brad Scott and won The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes (welterweight tournament award) at UFC on FX: Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson. Whittaker made his middleweight debut in the UFC at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Bisping on November 8, 2014, and won the interim middleweight champion title on July 8, 2017, at UFC 213 against Yoel Romero. He got knocked out and lost his title to Israel Adesanya at UFC 243 on October 6, 2019.
