Vasiliy Lomachenko underwent surgery on his right shoulder in October 2020. He had undergone a surgical procedure on the same shoulder in 2018 and the second surgery was required after a preexisting problem coupled with the damage he took against Teofimo Lopez in the second round of their fight which took place on October 17, 2020. He was examined by a doctor and surgery was recommended to him following the examination.
