Jessica Andrade is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who competes in the women's strawweight division of the UFC. Andrade is the offspring of Julio and Neusa Andrade. She holds Brazilian citizenship, thanks to her great-grandmother's lineage. During her early years, Andrade and her elder sibling assisted with farm chores under their parents' supervision until the government took control of the farm. At the age of 14, Andrade began working in various roles, one of which involved delivering medication for a pharmacy.
Andrade is also a former UFC women's strawweight champion, having won the title in 2019 by defeating Rose Namajunas via knockout in the second round. She held the title for a short period before losing it to Zhang in her first title defense.

Jessica Andrade began her professional MMA career in 2011. Her first training grounds were at Gracie Humaita in Umuarama, Brazil, and she won eight of her first ten fights in her native country.
