Jessica Andrade is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who competes in the women's strawweight division of the UFC. Andrade is the offspring of Julio and Neusa Andrade. She holds Brazilian citizenship, thanks to her great-grandmother's lineage. During her early years, Andrade and her elder sibling assisted with farm chores under their parents' supervision until the government took control of the farm. At the age of 14, Andrade began working in various roles, one of which involved delivering medication for a pharmacy.

Andrade is also a former UFC women's strawweight champion, having won the title in 2019 by defeating Rose Namajunas via knockout in the second round. She held the title for a short period before losing it to Zhang in her first title defense.

Jessica Andrade began her professional MMA career in 2011. Her first training grounds were at Gracie Humaita in Umuarama, Brazil, and she won eight of her first ten fights in her native country. Andrade's international debut came in 2013 when she submitted Milana Dudieva in Russia. Andrade made her first UFC appearance in 2013, facing Liz Carmouche. She lost the fight via TKO in the second round. Her subsequent UFC appearances included victories over fighters like Rosi Sexton, Raquel Pennington, and Sarah Moras, as well as a move to the strawweight division in 2015.

In 2016, she defeated Jessica Penne and Joanne Calderwood and went on to earn an eight-fight contract. She fought Joanna Jędrzejczyk for the UFC Women's Strawweight Championship in 2017 but lost via unanimous decision. Andrade's career gained momentum when she won the UFC Women's Strawweight Championship by knocking out Rose Namajunas in 2019. However, she lost the title to Zhang Weili in her very next fight. She continued to compete in the flyweight division, defeating Katlyn Chookagian but losing to Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC Women's Flyweight Championship.

Andrade's recent fights include victories against Cynthia Calvillo, Amanda Lemos, and Lauren Murphy, but she also suffered losses to Erin Blanchfield, Tatiana Suarez, and Yan Xiaonan. In her fight against Mackenzie Dern at UFC 295 in November 2023, 'Bate Estaca' was declared the winner via a 2nd round TKO. She is now preparing for her bout against Natalia Silva on September 7, 2024.
