After signing the UFC contract in 2020, Prochazka faced Volkan Oezdemir for his promotional debut and knocked out Oezdemir in the second round at UFC 251. The fight took place in Abu Dhabi, UAE and Prochazka won a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus for his showcase. For his second promotional outing, Prochazka went up against the former title challenger, Dominick Reyes, and again won the bout via a second-round knockout. This earned him both ‘Fight of the Night’ and ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses and also a title shot against Glover Teixeira. And finally, at UFC 275, Jiri Prochazka submitted Teixeira and became the new UFC light heavyweight champion. However, he had to vacate the title due to injury before a successful defense. Prochazka then came back and faced Alex Pereira for the vacant light heavyweight title but got TKO’d in the second round at UFC 295. However, Prochazka bounced back from the loss in his last fight against Aleksandar Rakic via a second-round TKO and secured his spot as the No.1 contender in the division.
