Path of Exile 2's endgame can be boiled down to running Waystones until your objective is met, whether it is to defeat the Arbiter of Ash or make your character as strong as possible by equipping them with best-in-slot items. Whatever the reason might be, you'll need capital to either purchase or craft your upgrades. This capital will have to be generated naturally or through trading.

This guide outlines four methods for earning money, involving mapping strategies and suggestions so that you can make the most of your playtime.

4 great ways to make money in Path of Exile 2

Before cashing in your Exalted Orbs for some mapping supplies in Path of Exile 2, there are some fundamentals to go over. The measure of your success against another player following the same strategies will come down to randomized factors, some within your control and others beyond.

Most prolific moneymakers in Path of Exile 2 agree that currency accumulation is largely based on your speed, the efficiency of your build, and the ever-fluctuating state of the market. More importantly, you will make money if you play the game long enough following a specific strategy, as your odds improve with each map to hit that big ticket item.

1) Start cleaning out your inventory

This might sound silly, but you might have a lot of currency in your stash without your knowledge. For this guide, we consider Exalted Orbs to be the tender of choice, and the rest of the currencies will be measured against it. If you require some quick cash, you can liquidate your Chance Orbs, Alchemy Orbs, and Chaos Orbs for Exalted Orbs at Alva's Currency Exchange.

However, I would advise against liquidating Divine Orbs into Exalts (Exalted Orbs), in certain large-scale trades. Furthermore, Armourer's Scraps can turn a pretty profit in the current meta. Any lucky drops of Greater and Perfect Jeweller's Orb will quickly make you rich. Beware, these two currencies are extremely important for your character progression.

2) Using Soul Cores

Soul Cores are an advanced form of runic magic that can be used on gear and weapons for additional bonuses. They are mainly obtained from running the Trials of Chaos and are dropped from the boss encounters at the end of rounds. With a good build, you can quickly clear these Trial rounds and make five to 10 Exalts in a few minutes.

A secondary way of making money through Soul Cores involves the Reforging Bench. This additional crafting method smashes together three items of a particular category and creates a random item of the same category.

You can use the Reforging Bench to combine three Soul Cores and look for the Soul Core of Azcapa as a potential result. This item is going for 230 Exalts per piece, as of this writing. Beware that this outcome is rather random, so a lot of tries might be needed, which will cost a lot of gold. This means you should keep running maps in between.

3) Using Breach and Delirium

Breach is rather popular currently, as it is seemingly spawning many rare monsters, which are ripe pickings, thanks to Magic Find being absurdly strong in Path of Exile 2. As a newer player, you can leverage the smaller drops from Breach rifts, such as catalysts and fragments.

Neural and Adaptive catalysts are going for quite the price in bulk, which can be a good source of money. And if you have other Catalysts, try putting them in the Reforging Bench and hope for the best for there's no harm in trying. You can also try collecting Breach Splinters and converting those into a Breachstone, which are currently going for 70-72 Exalts.

Delirium, like Breach, spawns a lot of additional monsters that can be leveraged for additional drops. And just like Breach, Delirium mobs drop Simulacrum Splinters, which can be combined to make a complete Simulacrum. You can sell it for quite a hefty price or try braving the challenges for additional rewards, possibly snagging a Kosis-exclusive drop.

4) Unholy Rituals can lead to unexpected riches

Ritual is surprisingly one of the most unexpected sources of big drops in the current meta. This league mechanic is very much juicing-oriented, and rewards are often unexpected in their valuation in terms of market involvement.

Ritual is a mechanic where you kill enemies within a circle to gather tribute, which can be spent on a selection of rewards.

The big ticket items from Ritual are several of the omens and an item called An Audience with the King. Omens are used in the specialized crafting of high-value items and can be quite potent when used correctly. The latter is an invitation that is required to fight the King in the Mists, the very same one we encountered in Act One's Freythorn.

If you're looking for quick bucks, the omens sell for multiple Exalts each on the Currency Exchange. As for An Audience with the King, it is currently going for multiple Divines per piece, so you can become very rich if you keep running Rituals non-stop.

The league mechanic is also inherently rewarding, as it can have well-rolled items and even high-value currencies in the reward window, including the elusive Mirror of Kalandra. Just make sure you look at the rewards carefully before re-rolling the stock. A quick tip: you can use your item filters to sort out the rewards.

Truth be told, these methods are not the be-all-and-end-all of money-making in Path of Exile 2, and far from it. With a game this complex and multi-faceted, you can make money by carrying people through high-level Trial runs or even by selling best-in-slot items. All that matters is that you find an activity to your liking and stick to it.
