Torchlight Infinite's latest Arcana Season offers brand-new gameplay avenues, reward structures, balance changes, and more. To indulge in this fresh experience of the game's surprisingly robust mechanics, you need solid builds to help you progress through the campaign quickly.
Starter builds in ARPGs are generally based on clearing the campaign with minimum gear but have all the core mechanics of the build by the time you reach the endgame. Thankfully, many of Torchlight Infinite's mechanisms are established in a way that makes leveling a breeze, provided you plan ahead of time.
This article provides four of the best starter builds for Torchlight Infinite Arcana SS7.
Try these 4 starters to progress smoothly in Torchlight Infinite SS7 Arcana
Starter builds are generally centered around having low gear pressure, being self-sufficient, and being scalable into the early levels of the endgame. In the case of Torchlight Infinite, this can be aided by occasional Legendary drops from enemies and special side areas called Treasure Troves. These provide players with extremely potent and often build-enabling items.

Ice Lance Spacetime Illusion Youga
Starting with a solid spellcaster that progresses from level 1 to the end of the acts, the Spacetime Illusion Youga a.k.a Youga 1 is available as part of the base game roster. The Ice Lance skill is also given to any Youga 1 player from the get-go. As a ranged skill, this build is proficient at killing enemies from a safe distance, giving you ample time to dodge incoming attacks.
Torchlight Infinite provides a default leveling recommendation of skills for all classes, sufficient to get you through the acts. We suggest changing to the Ice Lance's suggested support skill, which is as follows:
Ice Lance + Multiple Projectiles + Control Spell + Added Cold Damage
For the gearing section, get flat damage on every possible item slot, as these are the highest damage multipliers during the early levels. Running Treasure Troves for Legendaries, such as Rock Lizard Skull, Sage's Foresight, and Ownerless, is highly advised. As for the Hero Traits, here's what you should choose:
Spacetime Illusion - Me and Myself - Eeeendless Mana - I'm an Illusion
Regarding the Talent Trees, start with Goddess of Knowledge, then move on to Magister and Arcanist as your remaining two choices. You will mostly focus on nodes increasing your damage and Focus Blessing-related stats. Picking up the nodes that boost your Active Skill level is always a major upgrade. For the Main Talent of each tree, we recommend picking the following:
- Goddess of Knowledge: Chilly (12pts) - Insight (24pts)
- Magister: Bunch (16pts) - Play Safe (32pts)
- Arcanist: Indifference (16pts) - Dirty Tricks (32pts)

Mind Control Spacetime Elapse Youga
Spacetime Elapse Youga, more commonly known as Youga 2, is the second specialization of Torchlight Infinite's Youga character that focuses on damage-over-time playstyles instead of direct damage. Generally, it is a paid character that has to be unlocked via in-game currencies or microtransactions. However, for SS7 Arcana, this character is free-to-play for all players.
This Youga 2 will focus on the Mind Control skill, a channeled ability that targets all enemies in a certain area. This skill deals damage over time (dot) and has additional interactions with the Reap mechanic, which deals a chunk of damage based on the amount of dot on a target for a specific time frame.
Unlike Youga 1, you do not get your skill of choice from the jump. Instead, it comes online after reaching level 7. Therefore using Flame Jet is the only option. Once you get Mind Control at level 7, support it with Control Spell, Reaping Agony, and Passivation. As for gear, focus on getting damage over time, affliction effect, and spell skill levels for maximum benefits.
The Talent Tree is similar to Torchlight Infinite's Youga 1 but instead of direct damage, you're looking for Affliction effect, reap effects, and Skill levels. Your Talent Tree options are Goddess of Deception, Psychic, and Shadowmaster, of which the Main Talents are as follows:
- Goddess of Deception: Windwalk (12pts) - Forbidden Power (24pts)
- Psychic: Affliction (16pts) - Reap Purification (32pts)
- Shadowmaster: Dirt (16pts) - Twisted Belief (32pts)
As for the Hero Traits, you should take the following:
- Spacetime Elapse - Spacetime Speed-up - Spacetime Cutting - Spacetime Pause

Berserking Blade/Whirlwind Anger Berserker Rehan
Anger Berserker Rehan, or Rehan 1, is one of the best free-to-play characters in Torchlight Infinite, especially when melee builds are concerned. For the longest time, players would use the Seething Charge skill to effectively use an attack skill in a pseudo-channel method to deal massive damage.
Like Torchlight Infinite's other default progression suggestions, you will start with the Berserking Blade skill. This will last you until level 50 when you get Whirlwind. The supports for the Berserking Blade are Raging Slash, Added Physical Damage, and Increased Area, whereas Whirlwind will add Hardened as the fourth support, alongside the Berserking Blade's supports.
The gear is rather simple this time around. Look to stack as much physical & melee damage and attack speed as possible to make progression smoother. Rock Lizard Skull and Ownerless from Treasure Troves will be your best friend. Life and resistance rolls will be your primary defensive stats, while Tenacity Blessings will provide additional damage mitigation.
Rehan 1's Talent Tree options are the most diverse, as the builds can take advantage of multiple playstyles. We advise taking God of War, Shadowdancer, and Warlock. The Main Talents required for this build are:
- God of War: Brutality (12pts) - Endless Fervor (24pts)
- Shadowdancer: Blunt (16pts) - Hair-trigger (32pts)
- Warlock: Indifference (16pts) - Dirty Tricks (32pts)
As for the Hero Traits, go with the following:
- Anger - Righteous Fury - Tunnel Vision - Rampaging
Summon Fire Spirit Vigilant Breeze Forsaken Iris
We couldn't ignore the new arrival to Torchlight Infinite's meta. Vigilant Breeze Forsaken Iris, or Iris 2, is a new minion-oriented character. While others let their minions do all the work, Iris 2 opts for a more hands-on approach. We will use Fire Spirit minions for this progression build.
Summon Fire Spirits is unlocked at level 7, so until then, run with Summon Rock Spirit. After unlocking the Fire Spirits, take the following support gems as they are unlocked: Elemental Duo, Savage Growth, Harvest Time, and Elemental Fusion. As for secondary skills, Nourishment of Life and Dazzling Bloom will see you through the end of Torchlight Infinite's campaign.
Gear pressure for Iris 2 is light, as a lot of your leveling gear can be obtained from Treasure Troves. You should look to farm Lady's Tear necklace, as this is the best-in-slot item, followed by getting two Interlocking Souls to dual-wield. The rest of the items should have life and resistance rolls as the campaign progresses.
The Talent Tree progression is simple, as we will go for God of Machines, Alchemist, and Warlock. The Main Talents are as follows:
- God of Machines: Orders (12pts) - Mighty Guard (24pts)
- Alchemist: Source (16pts) - Talons of Abyss (32pts)
- Warlock: Indifference (16pts) - Off the Beaten Track (32pts)
As for the Hero Talents, the options are slated to boost your damage in the Merged Spirit form and increase the duration of said form. These Hero Talents are as follows:
- Vigilant Breeze - Whirlwind Tango - Happiest Reunion - Nurturing Breeze
