Path of Exile 2's mapping is currently in a weird position where it's either generating too much profit for some players or shooting blanks in the case of others. Fortunately, there are ways to mitigate your plights against RNG, and with a few gear tweaks, you too can have a good time in the endgame, farming for those high-value drops.
Unlike its prequel's expansive systems, Path of Exile 2's endgame is still in its veritable infancy, with very few mechanics in place and little in terms of juicing. Therefore, planning your build and subsequent mapping strategies are paramount for finding success in the endgame.
Try these four methods to adjust your Path of Exile 2 mapping for making currency
First and foremost, to advance in the endgame and have a good time, you need a good build (or at least one that is moderately strong and durable). Beyond that, you need to progress through the initial tiers of maps; if you are struggling with that, you can check out our guide on making currency in the early stages of Path of Exile 2's endgame.
With the basics covered, here are four methods you should try out in the deeper endgame:
1) Keep your rarity gear updated
As we've covered in the basic money-making guide and a deep dive regarding Path of Exile 2 and Last Epoch's loot structure, "Magic Find" in Path of Exile 2 is currently too good to pass up on. By simply stacking the affix "Increased Rarity of Items Found", otherwise commonly known as Increased Item Rarity (IIR), on pieces of your gear, you can drastically improve the quality of your loot.
This stat-stacking method not only boosts your average drop of good gear pieces for upgrades but also supercharges your currency drops by upgrading relatively low-value currencies to Exalted and Divine Orbs. As this is a hot topic among the community and likely to be addressed by the developers (through either a nerf or a rework), we advise using IIR-stacking until the hammer drops.
2) Stack Breach and Delirium
In addition to stacking IIR on your gear, the second best juicing method is to stack as many league mechanics as possible onto your maps; we advise using Breach and Delirium for maximum efficiency. Both mechanics spawn additional monsters onto your existing maps alongside rare mobs, which can produce really good results when used in tandem with IIR.
The Breach mechanic is particularly good for spawning rare mobs, which can drop a myriad of items, including Catalysts and Breach Splinters. While the former can be sold in large batches, the latter can be turned into a boss invitation to fight against the pinnacle boss Xesht. This boss can (very rarely) drop the Hand of Wisdom and Action Furtive Gloves, which can turn a nice profit.
As for Delirium, the mechanic also spawns additional monsters while adding extra reward structures onto your maps. Distilled Emotions obtained from Delirium encounters are used in many ways to improve your gear and enhance maps, so these items are always in demand. However, you should look out for Simulacrum Splinters, which are the key to big-ticket items.

Running Simulacrum is similar to any other wave-based endurance game mode, but the rewards and challenges are randomized. We do not advise trying your luck against harder waves if your build is starting to struggle. If you can brave the onslaught and fight Kosis in the latter stages, you stand to obtain the Melting Maelstrom Ultimate Mana Flask, which can net you some hefty Divines.
3) Try your luck with Rituals
This is less of a guaranteed method of generating currency and leans more towards the "gambling" aspect of many of Path of Exile's league mechanics. Ritual pits you against monsters in an enclosed space, while throwing hazardous arena effects in the mix. Killing these mobs and completing each Ritual altar awards you with Tributes, which can be spent on a variety of items.
Long story short, the five items that you should keep your eyes peeled for are as follows:
- Omen of Sinistral Exaltation
- Omen of Dextral Exaltation
- Omen of Sinistral Annulment
- Omen of Dextral Annulment
- An Audience with the King
All of these items can fetch you some nice profits for your troubles, but can also aid in endgame crafting if you like to craft your gear. If you are strictly looking to make the most Divines per hour, selling is your best bet.
Ritual rewards from Tributes can also net you lucky drops such as random Exalts, Divines, well-rolled rares, and very rarely a Mirror of Kalandra, so keep your eyes peeled while browsing that window. You can also use your item filters to sort through the offerings even quicker.
4) Pick a solid Atlas Passive Tree and stick to it
Having explained all of the previous methods, the most important factor toward making a profit in Path of Exile is having a solid Atlas Passive Tree and running maps like a maniac, which hasn't changed in Path of Exile 2. Fortunately, the Atlas Passive Tree in Path of Exile 2 is condensed, impactful, and easy to understand.
Many Path of Exile veterans and top money makers will say the phrase "The Hideout is Lava", basically implying that staying idle in your hideout will net you zero progress or profit. It is much better to run maps and store all of your potential loot into dump tabs, then sort out the tab after a 2-3 hour-long session.
Having some Quad Stash Tabs and Premium Stash Tabs are advised for these mapping sessions. As for the Atlas Passive Tree, stacking IIR and IIQ and additional mechanics such as Essences is advised to maximize the profit margins.
Notables like Constant Crossroads, Lucky Pillage, The High Road, and the Deadly Evolution Keystone are good Passive Tree choices. As for Essences, taking both Crystalline Growths and Resonant Lattice is highly advised. Rising Danger and Twin Threats are recommended Passive nodes for farming drops from rare mobs.
