In air battles, the F4U-4B is one of the most versatile American planes. It is excellent in boom-and-zoom attacks but is also great in turnfights. In the midst of a dogfight, its sturdy landing gear can also act as airbrakes, making it harder for an enemy to stay on its tail.
2) P-51H-5-NA
The P-51H-5-NA is considered to be the best American turbo-prop plane in the game. It is equipped with six 12.7 mm M2 Browning machine guns and can also carry an assortment of bombs and rockets for engaging ground targets.
The P-51H-5-NA is not much of a turnfighter, but its powerful engine and excellent high-altitude performance make it an exceptional boom-and-zoom fighter. It can keep up and sometimes even outperform early jets in uptiers.

The A-10A Late is a very slow aircraft, but its highly maneuverable, making it competent for dogfighting faster enemies. It can carry air-to-air missiles, as well as a plethora of guided and unguided ground attack ordinances, making it challenging for tanks to survive its attacks.

The F-16C is one of the two top planes in the American air tree. It is placed at rank VIII, BR 13.7, and is also one of the best top-tier jets in War Thunder. It is equipped with the 20 mm M61A1 rotary cannon and can carry various guided and unguided air-to-ground ordinances, as well as air-to-air missiles like the AIM-9m and the AIM-120A.
The F-16C is a single-engine fighter with excellent thrust-to-weight ratio and great dogfighting capabilities, with its maneuverability almost matching that of planes like MiG-29s and Su-27s.
5) F-15C MSIP II
The F-15C MSIP II is the second top-tier plane in the American tech tree. It was introduced during the War Thunder Seek and Destroy update.
The F-15C MSIP II is a rank VIII, BR 13.7 air-superiority fighter, equipped with the 20 mm M61A1 rotary cannon. It can carry bombs for engaging ground targets, but its air-to-air armaments shine the most, with missiles like the AIM-7M, the AIM-120A, and the AIM-9Ms.
