5 exciting features set to debut in Sea of Thieves Season 12
1) Throwing Knives
These versatile weapons offer a range of tactical options, as you can throw them at enemies for ranged attacks or use them as melee weapons with a charged heavy stab for a stealthy approach.
If you throw the knives and they lodge on a hard surface, you can retrieve and reuse them. With only two weapon slots available in Sea of Thieves, Throwing Knives adds a new layer of strategic weapon selection to your pirate life.
2) Wind Caller
Get ready to harness the power of the wind with the Wind Caller in Sea of Thieves Season 12. Revealed during the Sea of Thieves 2024 preview event, this tool unleashes powerful gusts of air with a variety of uses:
- Supercharge your sails by propelling them beyond the limitations of full bellows.
- Send opponents flying with a well-timed blast of air.
- You can use the Wind Caller for self-propulsion, speeding across both land and water.
- Transform your rowboat into a temporary speedboat with a burst of wind.
- You can also use the Wind Caller to douse ship fires when attacked by enemies.
- If timed correctly, the Wind Caller can soften a potentially damaging fall.
Keep in mind that the Wind Caller has a charge meter, so its power isn't unlimited. While details about the recharge system haven't been disclosed yet, stay tuned for more information as Season 12 launches.
3) Bone Caller
Sea of Thieves Season 12 introduces the Bone Caller, a thrilling new tool that lets you summon a temporary army of loyal skeletons. Throw the Bone Caller onto an island or launch it toward an enemy ship, and witness spooky skeletons emerging from the ground with one supreme goal in mind: vanquish your enemies.
These skeletal allies function identically to the standard skeletons encountered throughout Sea of Thieves, with one key difference, these bony creatures are loyal to you.
4) Zipline traversal
Developers at Rare are introducing a zipline functionality using your trusty harpoon. You'll be able to grapple your harpoon to ships, structures, and even specific points of interest, creating makeshift ziplines on the fly. You can also walk or even grapple down if the elevation allows it, just like you did in the Monkey Island Tall Tale missions.
5) New skins, emotes, and Owl pet
Sea of Thieves Season 12 brings a treasure trove of new content for players. Customize your pirate with a chess-themed ship set and matching weapons and clothing, or add a touch of goofiness with the new Scrappy Weapon Pose emotes. Finally, you can top it off with a wise and adorable Owl pet to accompany you on your adventures.
