Palworld’s new Arena PvP mode promises to bring something interesting to Pocketpair’s MMO. Players looking for more structure in their PvP will want to head south of the Desert biome, to a little island in the ocean. Here, they can engage in Pokemon Stadium-style combat - the only difference is its real-time, arena battles instead of turn-based combat.

If you want something new and challenging from your multiplayer experience, this latest Palworld update from Pocketpair has just what you need. Before you just recklessly jump into Palworld Arena PvP, here are some things you might want to know.

What to know before beginning the Palworld Arena PvP mode

1) Opponents must be in the same world (Multiplayer Mode Only)

While it might seem obvious, Palworld Arena PvP is multiplayer mode only - this mode, at least, at this time, doesn’t have bots you can battle instead. You need to make certain that your game mode is set to multiplayer. That would be an interesting feature in the future, but for now, it’s PVP against other players only.

In addition, they need to be in the same world as you - there is no cross-world battle at this time. It’s likely that Pocketpair doesn’t have the technology for cross-world PvP. That means if you want to really see who is the strongest, make sure you’re in a populated world, or you invite your friends together to battle.

2) All Battles are 4v4

At this time, you have one style of battle to take part in, during Palworld Arena PvP: 4 vs. 4. Each player will field a trio of Pals, as well as their own player character. This makes it all the more important to be well-equipped with legendary gear, and powerful Pals in Palworld.

However, you can only control one of the Pals, so make the one you pick matter! You can mount/control one of them, while the other two will attack and use skills on their own. Having types that synergize well together will likely be just as important as powerful, meta picks.

3) Palworld Arena PvP has two win conditions

You have one of two win conditions in Palworld Arena PvP. Either you knock out all the opposing Pals, or you knock out the opposing Trainer. That’s entirely up to you which you do - you don’t have to commit to one. Just keep in mind what you think would be easier for your team to accomplish.

It’s probably going to be easier to defeat the Pals themselves, especially if you bring Pals that have a type advantage against what your opponents bring with them.

You also have to consider how active the other player is - they have the ability to constantly move and dodge out of the way of attacks. Now, if the other player is being lazy, you may be able to overwhelm them with damage and special attacks to defeat them. It all depends on what your opponent is like.

4) All used consumables are refunded after the battle

One of the great things about this particular mode is that you don’t have to worry about running out of ammo or healing consumables while in this mode! That means you can go all out, and use whatever ammunition and consumables you have at your disposal.

However, this doesn’t mean you have an infinite supply. You can still run out during Palworld Arena PvP, but what you expend will be restored to you after the match. It still matters what you use and when, but you don’t have to stress re-farming consumables for another match.

5) Fire-types are likely to be very popular in PvP

While it’s still too early to say what the meta will be, and powerful, high-tier Pals will still be important, we think that Fire-types are going to be incredibly popular in this mode. They’re the only type with two strengths: Grass and Ice. With this in mind, we can also see Water types being very valuable, since they counteract Fire.

This isn’t a sure thing that “Fire types win matches”, but it’s certainly something to consider when building your team. It’s more important to have a team that works well together, instead of just loading out with legendary Pals.
