Diablo 4 Season 5 should definitely iterate on the success of Season 4. After all, Loot Reborn has arguably been the best season of content the game has seen so far. It added a wealth of important changes that have been important to the game's growth and have made it feel more fun than ever before. However, it’s important not to rest on one’s laurels. I’ve been giving the topic of “What to add to the game next” a lot of thought and have come up with a few ideas.
If even a few of these are added to the game, it could shake things up majorly. Season 5 has the potential to be incredible for Diablo 4, provided it doesn’t stumble at the start, as Season 3 did compared to Season 2. Season 4 was the renaissance the game needed, so here’s hoping the next season is even better.

5 things Diablo 4 Season 5 should implement
1) Improve how Helltides grant Greater Affix gear
One way Diablo 4 Season 5 could improve is by getting gear with Greater Affixes. While I love Helltides for grinding content and getting better gear, the best way is to just find a Helltide where people are grouped to fight the big boss (Blood Maiden). This is done repeatedly for the entire duration of the Helltide event. You stack tons of gear, crafting materials, you name it.
However, it’s remarkably tedious and kind of boring to just run in circles and get exp. Efficient, though. If you could only loot the Blood Maiden once per Helltide. Sure, people would be upset, but if you have a great chance for Greater Affix gear to drop out of the Helltide Chests, it might average out in the end.
2) Improve Helltides by adding Hell Portals
Helltides could be iterated on further in Diablo 4 Season 5. One thing I’d like to see is a little more variety. Maybe portals to Hell could spawn and give players little mini-dungeons or cellar-type areas they could explore. Add some extra missions or challenges there for greater rewards.
There are a wide variety of ways you could improve Helltides. Right now, they just send you into these regions filled with demons, with mission objectives. They all feel the same, but it is admittedly quite fun to pound through groups of evildoers. I hope that in Diablo 4 Season 5, we’ll see a shakeup and improvement to this system.
3) Improvements to Crafting Sigils
Crafting Sigils has quickly become a real point of contention for me as a Diablo 4 player. What I’d like from this is to be able to either pick what Nightmare Dungeon I’m crafting a sigil for or be able to hide/blacklist some of the dungeons from my list. This isn’t a major change, but it would be nice to have a greater clarity on what you’re making.
I think the affixes of the Nightmare Dungeons should stay nice and chaotic, but I’d like to have more agency in where I go with my time, especially in the more difficult/ high-tier Nightmare Dungeons in Diablo 4 Season 5. It would also be nice if Sigil Powder were just a tiny bit more common, on top of that.
4) Party Finder/Matchmaking
Perhaps this one’s a little selfish, but not many of my close friends play Diablo 4 right now. Having a party finder/matchmaking system for Pit of Artificers, Nightmare Dungeons, and other high-end, late-game content would be amazing. This would also make getting access to Uber Bosses just a bit faster.
Would people exploit this and use it to sell runs, and stuff like that? Of course, they would, it’s an online game. Nonetheless, I’d really like some kind of party system, especially for the more difficult content that will no doubt be available in Diablo 4 Season 5.
5) Solo Self-Found Mode
Do you think Hardcore is maybe too easy? Or maybe you want to do it completely on your own? No shops, no trading, no items dropped from friends? Solo Self-Found would probably be your haven. Most players can get through the game without help, so Diablo 4 would probably have to take it a step further. Maybe no shared resources/materials, and the same for your stash.
You can still interact with people in the overworld, and you can still get credit for killing things together, but they cannot help you get gear. However, perhaps to counter that, maybe they get a slightly better chance at loot drops? I don’t quite know how it would work, but I think Blizzard could figure out a way to make Solo Self-Found in Diablo 4 Season 5 be challenging and fun.
Diablo 4 Season 5 still has a ways to go before it hits live servers. It is slated to begin on August 6, 2024, which is when the current Season, Loot Reborn will end. It may be a shorter season however, unless it runs into the launch of the upcoming expansion, Vessel of Hatred.
