Having officially stepped into 2025, fans looking for fresh takes on online multiplayer experiences have plenty of new MMO titles to look forward to. While many players eagerly look forward to big names like Dune Awakening and Chrono Odyssey, the indie space has many offerings for players with a lower budget.

Built using Unreal Engine 5, Legend of Ymir is a brand-new blockchain-driven MMO game from the Korean indie studio, WeMade. This beautifully realized adventure is heavily inspired by Norse mythology and lets players carve their legacy in a world full of monsters and magic. The flashy combat is the icing on top, ensuring players favoring all kinds of playstyles can find a footing.


4) The Quinfall

Boasting a map of over 2,000 km square, The Quinfall promises a world where one can truly immerse oneself. This MMORPG features varied regions, each with its distinct climate across a living world where players can pick and live their profession. The title also offers a variety of combat endeavors, including action combat, naval, fortress sieges, and PvE raids against towering monsters.

The game launches for PC via Steam early access on January 25, 2025.


5) Eternal Tombs

What sets Triune Studios' Eternal Tombs apart from its peers in the MMO genre is that its world is shaped by live staff known as Tomb Masters. These individuals will help grant players quests and green-light events as they explore the open world of Mithir. Besides a rich class system, exploration, research, combat, and PvP are a few of the many things fans can enjoy in this microtransactions-free game.

Perhaps the most visually striking game on this list, Drakantos is a free-to-play MMORPG with a pixel-art visual style reminiscent of SNES-era games and modern titles like Stardew Valley. Set in the fantasy world of Eldras, players will pick one of 20 unique characters at launch and set out on an adventure either solo or with friends, to conquer dungeons and get powerful loot.
