Warframe's Jade Shadows update has made one of the most overpowered Warframes even deadlier. Saryn, the popular plague spreader, will now be stronger than ever - even without any direct buffs to her kit. The status effect and enemy-defense-scaling changes make her much more useful against all factions - and she was good against all of them to start with.
While a welcome surprise, this will probably not change much for Saryn-mains. She has been a top meta contender for years now, and the current update somehow manages to cement that even further.
Read along to find out what exactly changed - and why you should immediately pick up Saryn if you haven't already.
Saryn is now unbeatable as both an anti-armor and anti-shield Warframe
Saryn was already a powerful Warframe that you could take to any mission type and walk away with top damage and top kills. None of her abilities have been adjusted, and you will find no mention of her in the patch notes - but the Warframe status changes in the Jade Shadows update have big ramifications for her.
In brief, the changes to enemy-health scaling make it so that you no longer need to fully armor-strip enemies to see big damage changes. There is now a cap to maximum enemy armor, and the mitigation formula has been reworked in a way such that partial armor-strip is more useful now.
Shadow-buffed Spores, happier Saryn mains
Single-button armor-strip abilities still remain useful in Warframe, but the biggest winner in Jade Shadows is the Corrosive status. And what is the easiest way to apply and spread Corrosive? Saryn's Spores, of course. Since partial armor reduction is more effective now, Spores will deal more damage overall.
Admittedly, you can install two Emerald Archon Shards on Saryn to let Spores fully armor-strip just with Corrosive. However, in practice, the changes to Corrosive now let Spores rack up the damage even before 14 stacks of Corrosives kick in. In other words, high-range caster Saryn builds can expect higher KPM with the same build, and even higher Focus per ESO round.
Corpus Shield generation in Warframe? What's that?
Corpus Shields are another big part of the enemy-health-scaling adjustments in the Warframe Jade Shadows update. Digital Extremes acknowledged that the Corpus were pushovers before. So, their shield regeneration rate is much higher now, and it kicks in earlier as well.
Here's the rub, though: Toxin damage completely bypasses shields. And what applies Toxin damage on top of all your modded weapons? Saryn's Toxic Lash. Magnetic damage was buffed to give more anti-shield properties, but Toxin still cheeses the entire shield system just as well.
In other words, Saryn will be even more useful against the Corpus now, as raw-damage approaches may need to chew through more enemy shields.
Coupled together, these status effect changes make Saryn the jack-of-all-trades alchemist that Lavos wishes he was - and here's a Saryn build for Warframe players who want in on the action.
The timing is all the better if you don't have this Warframe, as the developers are giving away a free copy of Saryn Prime as a TennoCon 2024 Twitch drop.
