These Archetypes have their own separate roles and enjoy certain perks that make them suitable for specific jobs. This is an important step in the beginning, as it enables players to take up different quests and grind the game to level up.

That said, here is a brief overview of all the classes in New World Aeternum:
The Soldier
The Soldier provides access to the Sword and Shield combination and Hatchet weapons. It is a heavy armor-type class and excels in Weapon Smithing, Mining, and Smelting. You can pick this class to enjoy a strong character from the start, as they scale with the levels quite fast and are very efficient when dealing with incoming damage.

The crafting skills of this Archetype are another bonus that can help you secure some efficient weapons in the early game. Such characters are generally good at dealing and mitigating damage, which makes them the vanguard of a team in PvP (Player versus Player) scenarios.
The Ranger
The Ranger specializes in the Bow and Spear weapons. It is a medium armor-type with Engineering, Logging, and Wood Working trade skills. As the name implies, this class is perfect for dealing damage from long ranges with the help of crowd control skills that affect a wide area. It is one of the most balanced classes in New World Aeternum.
The learning curve for utilizing both weapons is a bit steep and will take some grind on your part to perfect. Rangers are a class that can quickly gather a lot of resources and craft tools to make gathering items easier in-game.
The Mystic

This is a crucial class for PvP enthusiasts, as you can heal your teammates with this character. While the start might be slow, it is one of the most important spots on the team when players opt to participate in raids and group fight activities.

Mystic can craft potions and magic weapons that can be used to buff damage output during fights. The other trade skills can be used to craft outfits for boosting stats. You would need to gather a lot of materials and grind the game before heading into the battlefield.
The Destroyer
Skilled in Armoring, Skinning, and Leather Working, Destroyers are a heavy armor-type Archetype in New World Aeternum who can use both Great Axe and Hammer weapons. You can build this class around being the primary damage dealer in team fights and PvP scenarios. Such a role comes with responsibilities and needs a lot of support due to the slow attack speed. However, each hit can deal significant damage and can change the tides of war.
This can be the perfect class for you if you wish to charge into battles and deal burst damage from time to time. Destroyers need to have complete coordination with other warriors in the team to cover for their slow swings.
The Occultist
The Occultist can use fire and ice magic with the Fire Staff and Ice Gauntlet. It is a light armor-type Archetype that is efficient in Jewel Crafting, Mining, and Smelting. Most of the damage output that you can do with this class is area-based (Area of Effect or AoE). Since you would not have much in terms of defense, you would need to boost the offensive abilities for the best results.

Your position on the battlefield will generally be at the rear while receiving cover from the vanguard to help you cast strong abilities on the opponents.
The Musketeer
The Musketeer can provide you with access to the Musket and the Rapier. This Archetype is skilled in Armoring, Harvesting, and Weaving while being rated as a light armor-type class. It is a difficult-to-learn character, as you would need to exercise a strict strategic approach with precision. While you can use both long-range and close-combat weapons, it can be difficult to match the pace of the fight and switch effectively.
You would need to master landing shots with the Musket, as it has a long reload time. It is also quite difficult to play this class in PvE (Player versus Environment) mode since you would not have any means to defeat large hordes of enemies. However, with the correct squad and formation, you can land crucial hits to help the team win fights.
The Swordbearer
The Swordbearer is a close combat Archetype, as you can utilize the Greatsword and Blunderbuss weapons. Being a forefront fighter, this class has a heavy armor rating and can make use of skills like Cooking, Fishing, and Leather Working. However, it is important to note that you would struggle to deal with long-range enemies and would need the support of Rangers and Mystics.

Since you can gradually level up by grinding the game, the trade skills clutter up as a major con of this class. Only the Leatherworking skill has some use for this heavy Archetype, as you can craft leather armor with this skill by leveling up the Refining skill.
