Destiny 2 tonics in the Revenant episode can be a tricky mechanic to follow. Almost 90% of the available tonics are hidden from players at the beginning, and collecting the reagents for each one can take several hours of gameplay. The endgame to tonics is to craft a purple-tier consumable that allows players to target-farm a seasonal weapon in either Onslaught or Tomb of Elders.
Readers can refer to our complete guide on potion crafting in Episode Revenant to get an idea of how the system works. However, this article lists every tonic tier-by-tier, allowing players to get some idea of the exact ones to make while crafting each potion.
All Destiny 2 tonics and a complete unlock guide
Before getting into each Destiny 2 tonic, you must first realize how each tier can be unlocked. There is a process that starts from the base level, which is Green/Uncommon, and can be followed until Purple/Legendary. Here is the basic idea:
If you purchase five Green tonics, then a Blue version of that same recipe can be unlocked. Similarly, purchasing four of the same Blue tonics can unlock a Legendary recipe of that same tonic. Lastly, major fieldwork from Eido at the Last City can unlock even more upgrades, so make sure to complete all of them.
Now, onto each tonic and how to unlock step by step:
Volatile tonics
The following list showcases each Volatile tonic, their tiers from left to right (green>blue>purple), and the number of purchases required to unlock the next tier:
- 5x Diluted tonics of Protecting Frost>4x Potent Tonic of Protecting Frost>1x Refined tonic of Protecting Frost
- 5x Diluted tonic of Stasis crystallization>4x Potent tonic of the same recipe>1x Refined tonic of the same recipe
- 5x Diluted tonic of Renewing Finishers>4x Potent tonic of the same recipe>1x Refined tonic of the same recipe
- 5x Diluted tonic of Weakening Void>4x Potent tonic of the same recipe>1x Refined tonic of the same recipe
- 5x Diluted tonic of Amplified Arc>4x Potent tonic of the same recipe>1x Refined tonic of the same recipe
Enriching tonics
This list of Enriching tonics will showcase recipes for seasonal gear pieces, that follow Onslaught and Tomb, alongside World gear pieces, and Glimmer. Note that the following list will refer to the Onslaught and Tomb tonics as "seasonal," as the tiers are the same in both cases.
The numbers before each recipe determine the amount of purchases required for the next tier.
- 5x Tonic of seasonal gear (green)>4x tonic of seasonal armor (blue)>1x tonic of each seasonal armor piece
- 5x Tonic of seasonal gear (green)>4x tonic of seasonal weaponry (blue)>1x tonic of each seasonal weapon
- 5x Tonic of seasonal gear (green)>4x of Vintage seasonal weaponry (blue)>1x tonic of each returning Splicer weapon
- 5x tonic of worldly gear (green)>4x tonic of worldly armor (blue)>1x tonic of each armor piece
- 5x tonic of worldly gear (green)>4x tonic of worldly weaponry (blue)>1x tonic of either Kinetic, Energy, or Power weapon
- 5x small tonic of Glimmering(green)>4x medium tonic of Glimmering (blue)>1x large tonic of Glimmering
Note that the weaponry tonics — both seasonal and Vintage — have been reported to have bugs within the Destiny 2 Tomb of Elders (December 3). Players are advised to use the Onslaught version of these tonics until Bungie releases a fix. This article will be updated once a fix gets deployed officially.
