The Rust November update is right around the corner, and its release has got fans excited. The latest Staging Branch showcase now indicates that the upcoming force wipe will feature two new weapons in the game, one of which will be part of the Level 1 Workbench, while the other for the Level 3 Workbench. This addition will undoubtedly shift the meta in Rust.
This article will explore different aspects of both new weapons coming in the Rust November update.
What are the new weapons coming with the Rust November update?
The November update for Rust will feature the addition of two weapons in the game, namely:
- Tier 1 SMG (Current placeholder name in the Staging Branch)
- SKS
Here's a detailed brief on both these guns:
Tier 1 SMG
The Tier 1 SMG has been teased for a long time. It's been in high demand by the community for over a year, and we will finally see it introduced in the game with the Rust November update. As evident, the Tier 1 SMG will be unlockable through the Level 1 Workbench. It will be relatively cheap to craft, providing players a great edge over others during their early game phase.
Items from the Level 1 Workbench are mostly suited for early game progression. With the addition of a sub-machine gun to this tech tree, players will have a greater chance of taking down better-kitted enemies and ease through their progression in the game.
Crafting costs
Once you research the Tier 1 SMG, you will have the ability to craft it. To craft this weapon you will need access to the following materials:
- 5 HQM
- 200 Metal Fragments
- 1 Metal Spring
These can be easily attained during your early game roams, and once you unlock and craft this weapon, you will see a significant increase in your ability to win fights against better-kitted players.

SKS
The SKS was initially teased as a cosmetic for the Semi-automatic Rifle (SAR) in Rust. However, the latest Staging Branch showcase from different players now indicates that it will be featured in the game as a powerful semi-automatic weapon. Part of the Level 3 Workbench, this item is solely suited for late-game progression.
Crafting costs
Once you research the SKS through the tech tree or find it as free loot from a crate, you will have the ability to craft it. This can only be done so in the crafting radius of a Level 3 Workbench. Here's what you will need to build this weapon:
- 12 HQM
- 200 Metal Fragments
- 2 Springs
- 1 Semi-automatic Body
