All Season Journey objectives and rewards in Diablo 4 (Season 5)

Each Diablo 4 Season features Season Journey objectives and rewards, built around the current content. In Season 5’s case, Season of the Infernal Hordes, many of the later objectives are designed around completing this new endgame activity. While you can complete these objectives on every character, unfortunately, the rewards are only for one character. Hence, you must determine which one you want to unlock.

I chose Barrage Rogue, which is one of the strongest Rogue builds you can run in Diablo 4 Season 5. You don’t have to unlock all the rewards on one character, though. If you decided to unlock the later rewards on other characters, that’s fine. Just remember, each chapter reward can only be claimed once.

Chapter One

It’s incredibly easy to get through Diablo 4 Season 5 Season Journey Chapter 1. Simply playing the game will unlock most of these. Since you only need nine out of 11 objectives, you can skip a few that you don’t really care to grind, like Risk and Reward, as it requires you to purchase items from the Purveyor of Curiosities.

Complete 9 out of 11 objectives:

  • Dubious Allegiance: Meet with Istel in Zarbinzet and increase Mother's Gift reputation to Rank 1
  • Begone Devils: Defeat 100 Demons throughout Sanctuary
  • Test of Mettle: Defeat 5 Elite Monsters
  • Spoils of Hell: Open 1 Tortured Gifts during a Helltide
  • Risk and Reward: Buy 5 pieces of equipment from the Purveyor of Curiosities
  • Into The Breach: Complete 1 Hellbreach
  • Trouble in the Wilds: Complete 3 World Events
  • Tiny Clarity: Upgrade your Potion to tiny at the Alchemist
  • Forager: Collect 50 Bundled Herbs from Harvest Nodes, Cellars, or various other sources throughout Sanctuary
  • Tanner's Apprentice: Collect 50 Rawhide from salvaging Armor, defeating Monsters, or various other sources throughout Sanctuary
  • Prospector: Collect 50 Iron Chunks from salvaging Weapons and Jewelry, Mineral Nodes, or various other sources throughout Sanctuary

Completing these unlocks a series of useful, lower-level rewards for whichever character claims them. Below are the Diablo 4 Season 5 Season Journey rewards:

  • Greater Favor: Battle Pass XP
  • First Journey Cache: Consumables (Elixirs, Keys)
  • First Journey Crafting Cache: Crafting Materials (Herbs, Gems)
  • First Journey Equipment Cache: Legendary Weapon and Boots for this class

Chapter Two

Diablo 4 Season 5’s Chapter 2 of the Season Journey gets just a little bit more difficult. You’ll want to go out of your way to complete at least one Stronghold, to get access to more Nightmare Dungeons. For my money, easy objectives include A Master at Work, Miracles of Alchemy, and Enemy of My Enemy. Killing Elites makes that Mother’s Gift reputation climb swiftly.

Complete eight out of ten objectives

  • Enemy of My Enemy: Increase Mother's Gift reputation to Rank 3
  • Ruins Reclaimed: Clear 1 Stronghold
  • Den of Evil: Complete any 5 Dungeons found on your map
  • Seething Wounds: Complete 5 Hellbreaches
  • Path to Strength: Unlock 5 Aspects in the Codex of Power, such as through completing Dungeons
  • Prelude of Doom: Defeat 5 Harbingers during Helltide
  • A Master at Work: Complete 1 World Events with Mastery
  • Stuff of Legends: Collect 100 Veiled Crystals from salvaging gear at the Blacksmith or other sources throughout Sanctuary
  • Expanded Repertoire: Learn 1 Recipe of Magic rarity or higher
  • Miracles of Alchemy: Craft 5 Elixirs at the Alchemist

Completing these objectives will net you the next set of Seasonal Journey rewards in Diablo 4 Season 5, whenever you wish to claim them. Your rewards get a bit better this time around, with the final chest offering three legendary items.

  • Greater Favor: Battle Pass XP
  • Second Journey Cache: Useful consumables (Elixirs, Keys)
  • Second Journey Crafting Cache: Useful crafting materials (Herbs, Ore, Gems)
  • Second Journey Equipment Cache: Contains legendary weapon, helm, and ring for your class

Chapter Three

You should be climbing well into the Mother’s Gift reputation as you reach Chapter 3 of Diablo 4 Season 5’s Season Journey. Personally, I find the Hellbreach runs to be a little on the tedious side, so I avoid those in my Journey objectives. Instead, it’s much faster to do things like Hard Fought Victory, The Mother’s Chosen, and Champion of the Lost.

That way, you’re unlocking more reputation rewards, gear, and more Nightmare Dungeons for your later-game grind. Other easy ones include completing 10 dungeons and hitting level 40. This section is pretty simple to get through, and doesn’t require you to do anything too dangerous.

Complete nine out of eleven objectives

  • The Mother's Chosen: Increase Mother's Gift reputation to Rank 5
  • Champion of the Lost: Clear 3 Strongholds
  • Cinder Spender: Open 10 Tortured Gifts during Helltides
  • Forsaken Offerings: Obtain 5 Caches from the Tree of Whispers
  • Purging the Infernal: Complete 10 Hellbreaches
  • Hard Fought Victory: Complete 1 Legion Events
  • Gifts of the Ancients: Unlock 10 Aspects in the Codex of Power, such as through completing Dungeons
  • Hardened by Battle: Reach level 40
  • Deeper Evil Within: Complete 10 Dungeons
  • Capable Craftsman: Learn 1 Recipe of Rare rarity or higher
  • Basic Needs: Temper 5 Affixes onto Gear at the Blacksmith

Once you’ve met the proper requirements, you will be able to claim the next set of rewards in Diablo 4 Season 5’s Season Journey. The rewards get even better this time, including some summoning materials to tackle optional bosses. This includes Living Steel (Grigoire) and Malignant Hearts.

  • Greater Favor: Battle Pass XP
  • Third Journey Cache: Consumables (Elixirs, Keys)
  • Third Journey Crafting Cache: Useful crafting materials (Ores, Herbs, Gems)
  • Third Journey Summoning Cache: Summoning Materials for Tier 3 bosses
  • Third Journey Equipment Cache: Legendary Weapon, Chest Armor, and Amulet for your class.

Chapter Four

I’ve never understood the Stem the Tide objective. It’s arguably the worst objective in this tier every season. Instead, it’s going to be much easier to do things like Against All Hatred, Blessing of the Strong, and The Way Down. Another easy objective is The Hordes Falter, once you have an overpowered class to work with - that way you can easily tackle the Fell Council in Diablo 4.

Complete nine of eleven objectives

  • Against All Hatred: Increase Mother's Gift reputation to Rank 7
  • Blessing of the Strong: Equip Sacred Legendary items in every slot
  • Grim Claim: Obtain 20 Caches from the Tree of Whispers by completing whispers
  • The Depths of Fear: Use 5 Nightmare Sigils to create and complete Nightmare Dungeons
  • Touching the Eternal: Unlock 25 Aspects in the Codex of Power, such as through completing Dungeons
  • A Deathless Heart: Defeat 10 Aether Fiends
  • The Way Down: Acquire 5 Infernal Compasses
  • Eternal Champion: Enhance Infernal Compasses with Abyssal Scrolls
  • The Hordes Falter: Defeat the Fell Council in the Infernal Hordes
  • Guilt: Defeat Echo of Varshan in World Tier 3
  • Stem the Tide: Defeat 666 Monsters at Max Threat Level during a Helltide on World Tier 3 or higher

The chapter rewards for this section also grant you something to help you in your end-game adventures: an Infernal Hordes Compass. You need those to unlock the mode, similarly to how Nightmare Dungeons work. You also get a nice chunk of current, powerful equipment.

  • Greater Favor: Battle Pass XP
  • Power and Sacrifice Emblem: Player Profile Icon
  • Fourth Journey Cache: Infernal Hordes Compass, Elixirs, Scroll of Amnesia
  • Fourth Journey Crafting Cache: Handy crafting items (Gems, Herbs, Ore)
  • Fourth Journey Summoning Cache: Summoning materials for World Tier 4 bosses
  • Fourth Journey Equipment Cache: Legendary weapon, gloves, pants, and ring for your class.

Slayer (Chapter Five)

Once you reach Slayer in the Diablo 4 Season 5 Season Journey, you’ve really got a fight on your hands. This is when knowledge of your class really starts to pay off. You need to be in World Tier 4 at this point, as that’s where most of these objectives take place in. Heir to Transcendance can be pretty easy, as can There Is No Dream. Tempered By Hellfire is simple depending on how hard you grind the game. Everything from here on out is going to take more and more effort.

Complete eight of ten objectives

  • Through Bile and Brimstone: Increase Mother's Gift reputation to Rank 12
  • Heir to Transcendence: Equip an Ancestral Legendary in every item slot
  • Damnation's Downfall: Defeat 20 Helltide Commanders during Helltides, summoned after completing Helltide Events
  • This Is No Dream: Complete a Tier 21 or higher Nightmare Dungeon
  • Tempered by Hellfire: Reach level 75
  • Echoes of the Ancients: Unlock 50 Aspects in the Codex of Power, such as through completing Dungeons
  • Strip Their Souls: Defeat 30 Aether Fiends, Aether Lords, and Infernal Demons
  • Corruption Consumed: Collect 666 Burning Aether from Hellbreaches and Infernal Hordes in World Tier 4
  • Excommunication: Defeat The Fell Council in the Infernal Hordes Tier 2
  • Vanquishing Hell's Best: Defeat 100 Champion Monsters in World Tier 4

The rewards for Chapter Five are similar to Chapter Four in Diablo 4, with a notable exception. This time you’re receiving Ancestral Legendaries, instead of likely only receiving Sacred Legendaries. This tier also guarantees you an Ancestral Unique for your class.

  • Epic Favor: Battle Pass XP
  • Slayer’s Cache: Infernal Hordes Compass, Elixirs, Scroll of Amnesia
  • Slayer’s Crafting Cache: Useful crafting items (Herbs, Ores, Gems)
  • Slayer’s Summoning Cache: Summoning materials for World Tier 4 bosses
  • Slayer’s Equipment Cache: Two Ancestral Legendaries, an Ancestral Unique for this class.

Champion (Chapter Six)

Depending on your build, Champion can still be a pretty easy tier in Diablo 4 Season 5’s Season Journey. Being able to beat your way through the various bosses such as Lord Zir and Beast in the Ice will certainly make things faster. You should also be able to handle Death to the Wicked and Ancient Craft easily enough. If you’re regularly doing Helltides, you may be closing in on The Gathering Fires as well.

Complete eight of ten objectives

  • Holding Back the Hells: Increase Mother's Gift reputation to Rank 17
  • Forgiveness: Defeat Lord Zir in World Tier 4
  • Harbinger of Ice: Defeat The Beast in the Ice in World Tier 4
  • The Gathering Fires: Acquire 6,666 Cinders during Helltide in World Tier 4
  • Collapsing the System: Defeat 10 any Ladder Bosses in World Tier 4
  • The Brink of Madness: Complete a Tier 30 or higher Nightmare Dungeon
  • Death to the Wicked: Defeat The Fell Council in the Infernal Hordes in Tier 3
  • Preamble: Complete Artificer's Tier 1 or higher in The Pit, located at the Artificer's Obelisk in Cerrigar and activated with Runeshards
  • Ancient Craft: Temper 20 Affixes onto Ancestral Gear at the Blacksmith
  • Infernal Hordes: Destroy 25 Aetheric Mass in World Tier 4

The rewards get better and better, with these intense, World Tier 4 challenges. This guarantees you another Unique for your class, alongside Stygian Stones, and another Infernal Compass you don’t have to craft.

  • Epic Favor: More Battle Pass XP
  • The Gates of Hell Emblem: Player Profile icon
  • Champion’s Cache: Infernal Hordes Compass, Elixirs, Scroll of Amnesia
  • Champion's Crafting Cache: Has useful crafting materials (Ores, Herbs, Gems)
  • Champion’s Summoning Cache: Stygian Stones, among other Tier 4 boss summoning materials
  • Champion’s Equipment Cache: Contains two Ancestral Legendaries and an Ancestral Unique for this class

Destroyer (Chapter Seven)

Rip and tear until it is done! (Image via Blizzard Entertainment)

This is it - The final test for Diablo 4 Season 5’s Season Objectives. It takes so much grinding to do so many of these. It also hinges on you being able to do the most difficult content in the game, like defeating Tormented Echo of Duriel. Become the Weapon is easy enough to do, and so is Avatar of Sanctuary’s Might. Glyphmaster isn’t too hard if you’re regularly grinding Nightmare Dungeons. However, this is easily the hardest hurdle to overcome in this season, other than Uber Lilith.

Complete eight of eleven objectives:

  • Become the Weapon: Increase Mother's Gift reputation to Rank 20
  • The Bigger They Are: Defeat 10 World Bosses
  • Avatar of Sanctuary's Might: Equip at least 8 Ancestral Unique items simultaneously
  • Anointed Immortal: Reach Level 100
  • Glyphmaster: Improves 5 Paragon Glyphs to Rank 15 by completing Nightmare Dungeons
  • Infernal Challenger: Enhance Infernal Compasses to Tier 8 with Abyssal Scrolls
  • May They Burn Forever: Defeat The Fell Council in the Infernal Hordes Tier 6
  • Unholy Coffers: Open a Greater Spoils of Hell chest after defeating The Fell Council in the Infernal Hordes
  • Anguish Extinguished: Use Stygian Stones to summon and defeat Tormented Echo of Andariel
  • Horadric Smith: Masterwork gear to Rank 8 at the Blacksmith
  • Eradicator: Use Stygian Stones to summon and defeat Tormented Echo of Duriel

These are the hardest objectives to complete for the season. Completing them nets players a pair of cool titles, alongside more of the same stuff you received in the previous tier. It’s worth it, for the Uniques and title, but you’ll have to really put in the work.

  • Destroyer’s Cache: Infernal Hordes Compass, Elixirs, Scroll of Amnesia
  • Destroyer’s Crafting Cache: Crafting materials (Herbs, Ores, Gems)
  • Destroyer’s Summoning Cache: Stygian Stones and other Tier 4 summoning materials
  • Destroyer’s Equipment Cache: Two Ancestral Legendaries, two Ancestral Uniques for this class
  • Infernal Player Title
  • Antagonist Player Title
