ARK Survival Ascended Extinction release date, Dreadnoughtus, features, and other details

ARK Survival Ascended Extinction is scheduled to release on December 16, 2024. This will be the fourth original ARK map from the first game to be remastered for the UE5, and arguably one of the most exciting ones. While it doesn't have the complex level design of Aberration, Extinction comes with its own unique mechanics, including Orbital Supply Drop PvE events.

What's the new creature coming with ARK Survival Ascended Extinction?

Dreadnaughtus is the exclusively new creature coming with ARK Survival Ascended Extinction map. Thus far, all of the remastered map expansion releases have featured new community-voted creatures, and Dreadnaughtus will be the fourth one in that queue.

This creature will be just the right fit for the colossal creatures that terrorize the ruins of the Extinction map. According to the tags on its original post, it will be a herbivore sauropod of formidable scale. It can also carry siege weaponry on its back.

As the Dossier entry mentions:

"A big believer in picking on creatures its own size, Dreadnoughtus will ignore anything smaller than a Spinosaur to focus on larger threats. It absorbs the fury of incoming attacks to charge up its uncanny, Element-disrupting bellow."

Dreadnoughtus can swallow boulders and throw it out as acid-coated cannonballs at your enemies. The artillery-carrying will also make it a prime tame for late-game OSDs.

ARK Extinction Ascended features: What to expect from the update

Like all other maps remastered for the new Ark Survival Ascended engine, Extinction will retain all of its original features. This includes all of its exclusive creature, creature variants, and biomes. While some details in the regions may be tuned for the remake, the broader regions themselves will remain the same:

Besides the map and new community-voted creature, the Extinction's release will also be the occasion for the third update to Bob's Tall Tales DLC, Wasteland War. Alongside more exclusive structures and a new creature, this update will also expand the ARK Survival Ascended Traits system with new Tek Traits.
