The First Descendant features a list of characters that you can unlock, each with a different role and playstyle. There are different genres of DPS characters in The First Descendant including Burst, Continuous, and Single Target. While Bunny is the first choice for many players while playing DPS, there are many other options that definitely deserve a shot.

On that note, this article will be listing the five best DPS characters in The First Descendant that you should try.

Note: This article is subjective and reflects the writer's opinion. Each entry in the list is ranked based on their DPS capability, versatility, and overall effectiveness.

The five best DPS characters in The First Descendant

5) Sharen

Sharen is the Assassin of The First Descendant. She can burst down enemies in her path and go incognito with her camouflage. In her Ambush mode, Sharen can deal massive damage to a single enemy. Her high damage skill combined with crowd control skills like the Impact Rounds, makes her a very versatile damage dealer.

However, her abilities are mostly single target. This means if you miss your mark on the VIP target, you're sitting ducks for a long downtime - which is not a good look for The Blade in The Dark. This is why she secured the last spot on the list.

4) Enzo

The commander of the battlefields of The First Descendant, Enzo is one of the best supporting DPS characters in the game. His abilities spawn valuable ammo crates as well as other supplies on the field so he and his allies can replenish and continue their forward march. With his Explosive Drone attacks, Enzo can also do some burst damage on swarms of enemies and the bosses.

While Enzo can make any squad OP, by himself, he is not that effective. He can deal good damage and have great survivability. Most of his skills revolve around supporting so if you are planning to solo The First Descendant, then Enzo is not for you. The low damage compared to others in the list and solo play restrictions is why Enzo ended up fourth.

3) Bunny

The mascot character of The First Descendant, Bunny is what Tracer is for the Overwatch universe. She too, has speed-related abilities that turn her into an electric blur on the battlefield. Using her Lighting Emission skill, Bunny can effectively turn the area around her into an AOE damage zone and just run around the map to deal damage to the enemies.

Her Maximum Power skill can shoot a concentrated beam that can do continuous damage, which is her pocket single-target DPS option. However, this requires you to stay relatively static - so don't expect to be good at bossing. Due to this glaring weakness, Bunny ended as only third-best DPS in The First Descendant.

2) Freyna

Freyna is Toxic, literally. She stands true to her nickname, Dominator of Venom. Her attacks are excellent at doing continuous damage, especially against Void Interceptor bosses in The First Descendant. Freyna with her Decomposed Poison skill, can create toxins swamps all across the battlefield.

Enemies that enter the swamps will be inflicted with toxins and will get others infected. However, Freyna’s greatest strength can also be her biggest weakness. Any enemy or boss that has toxic resistance can make most of her abilities futile. Fortunately, these enemies are quite rare in the game. Yet, this drawback is what lands her the second-best on the list.

1) Gley

Gley is hands down the most effective damage dealer in The First Descendant. It doesn't matter if you want to clear out swarms of enemies or down a massive boss, Gley can melt anyone if used right. But with great DPS capabilities, comes great weaknesses, especially when it comes to defense.

Gley is a glass canon. With her, you can throw out a huge amount of damage, but make sure to cover your six. Gley’s DPS capabilities come from her “Frenzied” mode. In this mode she gets a damage boost as well as improved armor penetration, but with a cost of constant HP consumption.

While Gley can recover some HP by killing enemies, if you are not careful while playing as her, you will be dead before you get a chance to do any meaningful damage.

Though Gley has some weaknesses, when it comes to pure damage, she is the Queen. With enough practice, you will soon get used to her life regeneration mechanic and understand she deserved the first rank on this list.
