The Palworld Hardcore Mode is like an in-built Nuzlocke mod, something very popular in the Pokemon community. Introduced in the Feybreak update alongside Random Mode, Hardcore Mode makes everything significantly tougher compared to the normal one. What's more, all deaths in this mode are permanent, and that makes it further challenging.
In this guide, we have shared some tips that can effectively and efficiently help you survive the Palworld Hardcore Mode.
Tips you will need to survive in Palworld Hardcore Mode
The first thing you should do in Palworld Hardcore Mode is find a suitable base location. Try to go for areas with abundant resources, like ore, wood, and stone. At night, avoid going out, unless it's absolutely necessary.

Always unlock waypoints during your explorations, as they can help you quickly return to your base when things go wrong. Additionally, keep 90% of your berries stored at your base while carrying 50-100 with you when you go out.
Base building and defense
Your base is the most important aspect of your survival. Start with wood structures, but, upgrade to stone, as soon as possible, to protect against fire-breathing Pals. Install alarms to alert your Pals of incoming raids. Build multiple storage chests around your base to improve efficiency for worker Pals.
In the early game, use expendable Pals to handle raids, as risking your stronger Pals isn't worth it until your defenses are solid. Over time, use powerful Pals to patrol and guard your base. If resources, like ore, are depleting in your inventory, build mining outposts near resource-rich areas. When possible, set up a flea market to sell surplus Pals for currency.
Pal management
You will need a well-balanced team to survive Hardcore Mode. Your squad should include one flying Pal for mobility, one for speed, and several combat-ready Pals for protection. Assign each a specific role, such as mining, farming, or defense, to maximize efficiency. Always keep your Pals well-fed and rested.
Combat and exploration
During the early game in Hardcore Mode, some areas can be prone to frequent or challenging raids. Avoid them until your base and team are fortified, and always engage enemies on favorable terrain to minimize risks. Never approach merchants or bounty hunters with a Pal out, as they may misinterpret this as aggression and attack.
