Diablo 4 Season 5 players very quickly noticed something critical: they didn’t lose their S4 Tempers! Tempers were introduced in Season 4 as a way to add/change effects to your various pieces of loot throughout the game. It gave players a ton of extra buffs they could enchant their weapons and armor with; you could also level them up, making them incredibly powerful. Anyone who took part in Season 4—like me—quickly noticed something was amiss.
It turns out that all the Tempers I farmed from Season 4 of Diablo 4 are still here in Season 5! Not only are they still here, but Blizzard has confirmed that this isn’t going to be hotfixed out or reset this season. If you took part in Season 4 and maxed out your Tempers, you’re in for a nice, cozy ride.
Blizzard accidentally left S4 Tempers in the game, making Diablo 4 Season 5 infinitely faster
It took me a little while to notice the Diablo 4 Season 5 Tempering change since I wanted to wait until I had decent gear to slap new Tempers on. It took more time than it should have since this season has dropped an inordinate number of rings and amulets. However, while streaming D4, I noticed that I had so many Tempering Manuals on my Rogue, and I had only picked up a handful!
I didn’t think anything of it until this morning when I saw many other players notice the same thing. It turns out that it was unintended, but Blizzard left all of our Tempers in the game from Season 4 and allowed players access in Season 5. That means you can take your low-level gear, apply maxed-out Tempers to them, and deal incredible damage right out of the gate.
This, coupled with the faster exp gain players have experienced in Season 5, explains how players are hitting Level 100 in record times. As this is a shorter season, leaving the Tempers in, while unintended, has made it so much more fun. It’s easier to get strong enough to tackle harder content, making the game more enjoyable. If players want to make multiple characters to farm out Resplendent Sparks, it’s easy and fun this time around.
Blizzard confirmed that this will not be hotfixed out on X.com last night, via Adam Fletcher - Global Community Director for Diablo. According to the Community Director, it wasn’t intended, and we shouldn’t expect it to happen again in Season 6 - but just this once, they’re going to let it slide.
If you were on the fence about Season 5 and weren’t sure if it could match the hype Season 4 held, this may help you decide. It’s incredibly easy to pick a class, find the build you want, and then use those Tempers to make an uber-powerful character right at the start of Diablo 4 Season 5.
