Brighter Shores, a fascinating new MMO from RuneScape creator Andrew Gower and his studio (Fen Research), is coming soon. Though still on the way, the early access date was pushed back a day so it wouldn't clash with Election Day in America. The MMO has an interesting tabletop-game look and has something for everyone — even players who want to be idle online.
The title recently held a closed beta test, but for the wider audience who want to get hands on it, the early access release date for Brighter Shores isn’t too far away. Here’s what we know about the upcoming MMORPG.
Brighter Shores comes to early access on Steam next week
The early access version of Brighter Shores will be released on November 6, 2024, on steam. This was confirmed by Andrew Gower, creator of the MMO on Twitter, back on October 9, 2024. The game developer, famous for his work on RuneScape, published a tweet. The post stated the title would be available on November 6, 2024 — a day later than planned initially.
The MMORPG by Andrew Gower and Fen Research has the classic RuneScape isometric style with far more polished and updated visuals. It has the look of a tabletop RPG, so fans of Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder will likely find something worth exploring here. It also has a very important feature for fans of MMOs that don’t like grinding professions.
Players will be able to idly level their professions, albeit at a slower rate than normal. Whether you want to slay powerful monsters or hang out in the town, cooking or taking part in other activities, the title promises something for everyone in the world of Adothria.
The developers have also revealed that it will be free to play, with hours of free content and a roadmap of the upcoming content. There will be an optional premium pass with even more content, which seems similar to the RuneScape design model.
The full release date of the title hasn't been revealed yet, but players will be able to go hands-on for early access on November 6, 2024. This way, they can play the game as some of the other major features get added to it.
Brighter Shores is an exciting prospect, as it boasts something fresh for the MMO audience in terms of style, design, and monetization. However, we’ll have to wait and see how it handles when it goes live.
