Aspiring pirates will be pleased to know that they can play Sea of Thieves solo. This hugely popular title by Rare has ample scope for solo plays in both PvP and PvE formats. Moreover, solo play doesn't take away much from the overall experience of the high seas. Whether you can take on the challenge as a lone wolf is a different ball game since you must juggle many actions to succeed.

We take a deep dive into the intricacies of playing Sea of Thieves solo and mention some moments when solo play isn't the best option and can make your session rather frustrating.

How to play Sea of Thieves solo?

To play Sea of Thieves solo, first decide if you're skilled enough to tackle PvP against multi-player crews as a solo player. Based on your answer, here are the two routes you can take for your solo journey in Sea of Thieves.

Safer Seas

Opt for the sensible route and launch a session in the Safer Seas, where the PvP element is eliminated. As such, you can enjoy a peaceful solo session without the constant worry of another ship on the horizon waiting to poach you and any loot you may have.

Your only worry will be the PvE elements like the Megalodons, Skeleton Ships, and the Kraken. In Sea of Thieves, the general rule is that your ship size depends on the number of people you have playing with you. For solo plays, Sloop is ideal since it is designed for one or two-player crews only.

In Safer Seas, however, you can completely ignore this and choose to operate any of the ships, although you will only be increasing your workload in the face of a PvE element. Safer Seas is a great way to complete the Tall Tales and farm for commendations as a solo player in Sea of Thieves.

Solo sloops in the High Seas

If you're confident in your PvP skills, you are free to play Sea of Thieves solo on a sloop in the High Seas. It's not an easy task as you have to manage shooting, navigating, boarding, repairing, and bailing water by yourself. You need to do them effectively too; otherwise, your ship will be sunk by others.

Solo play in the High Seas is mostly a sign of being extremely skilled, and these players are more than often strong enough to sink even a Galleon with a crew of four with their skilled moves. It might sound impossible on paper, but it is totally doable, and we have fallen prey to them quite a few times.
