Can you play Sea of Thieves in third person?

If you are new to the pirate life, you must be wondering if there is a third-person in Sea of Thieves (SOT). A TPP (third-person perspective) lets you enjoy a wider view of the world around you. You can also enjoy special cosmetics that you put on your character. So, a third-person perspective is often desired by SOT players.

Sadly, Sea of Thieves is a first-person-only game and you cannot enjoy a third-person perspective while playing in real-time. There are a couple of exceptions to this though.

How to use third-person in Sea of Thieves?

A first-person gameplay experience on a ship sailing on massive bodies of water can induce motion sickness. So, players might want to switch to a third-person perspective. However, Sea of Thieves doesn't let you switch your perspective.

You can enjoy some aspects of the game in third-person. For instance, when you sit down while playing, your character will enter a third-person perspective. You can also enjoy a third-person perspective while doing emotes.

Besides these two instances, Sea of Thieves does not let you play in third-person mode. The game is meant to be played in first-person for a thorough, immersive experience.

To get a wider field of view, you can adjust this parameter in your Settings menu: change the Field of View attribute from 60 to 90. This will let you see more things around you at any given time.

The game can make you feel nauseous if you indulge in extended sessions without taking breaks. So, it is crucial to prioritize your health over a video game. Always take breaks from time to time if you feel nauseous.
