To explore the vast open worlds of Once Human in a more immersive way, players are eager to know whether there is a first-person view you can make use of. Unfortunately, as of this writing, the answer is no. There is no toggleable persistent first-person camera mode in Starry Studio's survival MMO. However, you can switch to a first-person aiming mode with specific weapons that have optic sights and scopes.
In this article, we will go over why Once Human does not have a first-person mode yet, and examine the possibilities of there being one in the future.
Why doesn’t Once Human have a first-person mode?
There are two possible reasons why Once Human doesn't have first person, and that's time/resources, and monetization. It takes a great deal of resources and time to make a character's visual aesthetic optimized for a certain mode - first or third person.
We need only look at the third-person camera mods in Cyberpunk 2077 for reference. The entire player model of your character in that game loads as a means to create immersion: you can look at your feet and the real-time shadow you cast.
That said, when you actually switch to a third-person perspective via mods, it becomes clear the third-person model was never meant to be inspected in its entirety outside of photo mode. The animations are clearly optimized to heighten the sense of momentum in the first-person view; when you start moving around, it assumes an odd posture and gets all wiggly.
With that in mind, Once Human having a first-person mode would require a significant amount of changes. You can't see cosmetics in the first person, after all. This is a free-to-play survival MMO, and they need ways to monetize it.

That means cosmetic sets and individual pieces of armor/clothing that make the player feel like their time and/or money is justified in unlocking them. The game is going to have a Battle Pass (free/premium), as well as a cosmetic shop, so letting players dedicate themselves to first-person shooting would make these cosmetics have less value for the money they require.
At the time of writing, the closest you can get to an FPS perspective is ADS (aim down sight), but that isn't to say it's not a possibility in the future. Officially, developers have not said anything about a first-person mode yet, which means they don't have any immediate plans to add it. It may be something added to the game in the future, and we will update this article if anything definitive is announced.
