If you’re playing Once Human and want to trade with other players, you have a few options at your disposal. Some of them could be considered exploits though, which we’ll go over. Thankfully, there are now both passive and active ways to trade with other players, so you can do what feels right. One of the methods is also very dangerous, as it could lead to you being scammed, and we’ll cover that as well.
Whether you want to trade Stardust Source for a Deviation or want to make sure one of your friends gets one of your guns, there are ways to go about doing that in the game through the trade system.
How to trade with players in Once Human
The most obvious way you can trade with other players in Once Human is by building a Vending Machine. This is found under Level 3 Memetics and must be connected to some type of power grid. In this system, you can put the items you’re looking to trade/sell and put them up for a variety of currencies. You can sell items for Energy Links or trade them for specific deviations.
Once you’ve advertised and activated your Vending Machine, it will show up on the world map if that's toggled on. It won’t show everything you’re selling, but you can select an item or two to advertise what you have. It’s a great way to make sure the things you want to sell get sold, perhaps Acid in Once Human.
The other typical way to trade with other players in Once Human is to press Z on a player in the world and select the "trade" option. You can then trade them a variety of useful items. If someone offers to trade with you, press Y to accept or N to deny.
You can drop items for other players to pick up, but be cautious as this is a well-known way to get scammed by other players. Only do this with people you implicitly trust to not rip you off. You can also allow friends to put items into your storage containers from the "Friends" menu, but that is also quite dangerous.
They could also rip you off, so be careful when using a player trade this way in Once Human. You can give this permission by clicking on a friend in the contacts section and selecting “Friend Permissions.”
It’s unknown if this is intentional, but you can even trade armor and weapons in Once Human with other players, but it takes some setup. Make sure to put all the gear you want to keep in storage, and only have on/equipped something you want to give to another player.
Both of you activate PVP and self-destruct, so you lose the battle. The player you want to trade with will have a 100% chance to loot that one item off of you. It will be received at a reduced durability, however. These are currently the only known ways to trade with other players in Starry Studio's survival MMO.
