Claws of the Wolf returns to the Destiny 2 Iron Banner loot pool, along with many other weapons in the game. While most of the old gear pieces have been revived from the vaulting, the age-old Iron Banner Pulse Rifle has been re-issued with new perks to fit the current meta in the game. The name "Claws of the Wolf" once instilled fear in the hearts of anyone who played PvP during Season 4 in 2018. Fast-forward six years, and it promises to do the same in Episode Echoes.

Claws of the Wolf is a Void Rapid Fire Framed Pulse Rifle that shoots at 540 RPM. This article lists the best perks of this weapon for PvP and PvE.

Here is a list of all the perks recommended for Claws of the Wolf in Destiny 2 PvP:

  • Smallbore for increased Stability and Range
  • Ricochet Rounds for more Stability and Range on the weapon
  • To the Pain for increased Handling and Accuracy after taking damage until the weapon is stowed
  • Rampage for increased damage against enemies after kills. Stacks three times with kills, up to 33% increased damage

The combination of Headseeker and Kill Clip is a direct alternative to the perks mentioned above. Aside from the Accuracy, To the Pain can also come in handy if you are using a Kinetic Shotgun during fights. The perk will help you switch to your Shotgun quickly after taking damage and take care of any opposing Guardian in close quarters.

Here is a list of all the perks recommended for Claws of the Wolf in PvE:

  • Arrowhead Brake for reduced recoil on the weapon and increased Handling
  • Light Mag for increased Reload Speed and Range
  • Repulsor Brace for gaining a Void overshield after defeating a target with void debuff
  • Destabilizing Rounds for applying a volatile debuff on adjacent targets near the killed enemy

For sustained DPS on a single target, go for Headseeker and Rampage. The only downside to this is that Rampage will require a group of mobs to activate before you start firing on a mini-boss or a Champion.

Since Episode Echoes allow Pulse Rifles to stun Barriers, you can go for Snapshot Sights and Disruption Break. You can then damage the enemy with a ranged Kinetic Special weapon to deal increased damage.

How to get Claws of the Wolf in Destiny 2 (2024)

Claws of the Wolf is a returning Destiny 2 Iron Banner weapon, meaning that it can be exclusively farmed from the PvP event. Being a new weapon to the loot pool, Bungie added a curated version to the reputation rank reward pool from Saladin, allowing players to unlock Claws of the Wolf from Collections.

The second option to farm Claws of the Wolf is via Engram focusing on random perks, or get a copy of the weapon as a drop from Iron Banner matches.
