Destiny 2 Episode Echoes deal with many mysteries aside from the usual heavy lifting. Sometimes, Bungie loves to hide away certain objectives that players must crack to unlock seasonal triumphs and rewards. "Demo Squad" is one such triumph hidden away from plain sight. It is very easy for everyone to overlook certain areas within this season's Battlegrounds, all of which have a whole new tier of rewards locked behind them.
This article lists everything related to the secret triumph "Demo Squad," and will guide you to summoning secret bosses in all three Echoes Battlegrounds. The ultimate goal of summoning these secret bosses is to complete a seasonal triumph and gather a summoning beacon for a World boss who will drop a Legendary Specimen weighing 400g.
Note that any player without the Beacon can easily join another player that has a beacon, and get the Legendary Specimen without doing any previous step.
Destiny 2 guide to summoning secret bosses in Echoes Battlegrounds
1) Prerequisite
Before summoning anything, there are a few pre-requirements that you must complete. Starting with the NES006 quest and A Rising Chorus questline, you are to complete both to get an upgraded Torch Hammer. The Specimen ID NES006 quest can be picked up from one of three Battlegrounds in the Echoes Episode.
You must complete the NES quest aside from obtaining the upgraded Hammer, as not completing the quest will not trigger the summoning.
2) How to summon secret bosses
After completing the NES006 quest, and obtaining the Legendary Torch Hammer, you are eligible for summoning the secret bosses in Echoes Battlegrounds. Each Battleground mission has a closed portal hidden away in a random location, which will spawn an "Assimilated Demolisher" Vex boss with a yellow health bar.
The boss will spawn alongside a few other Vex minor enemies once you approach the closed portals.
3) Closed portal locations
Here is a list of all closed portals in three Battlegrounds:
I) Battleground Delve
Between the second encounter and the boss, a closed Vex portal is located on the right.
II) Battleground Conduit
In the first traversal/aqueduct section, instead of going through the holes in the wall, head right and you will find a Vex portal.
III) Battleground Core
Just before the boss tower, look to your right in the open area and you will see the Vex portal.
4) Defeat the final boss and get the beacon
Once you have defeated an Assimilated Demolisher boss inside a Battleground mission, your next task is to defeat the final boss and get the "Assimilated Beacon." You can then inspect this Beacon in your inventory to check a Nessus location it is telling you to go.
For example, if the Beacon wants you to go to the Watcher's Grave, it will have a description that resembles the one in the image below.
After going to the location, look for a Vex conflux that can be interacted with. If you see an option that says "Activate Assimilated Beacon," you can ensure that you are on the right track. Once activated, three major enemies will spawn in the area with plenty of health pools. These enemies will be Minotaur, Hydra, and Wyverm.
Defeat all three to get a Legendary Radiolite sample drop of 400g weight, which can be deposited at the HELM.
