Liminality is the newest Strike added to the pool with Destiny 2's The Final Shape expansion. It is regarded as one of the most challenging missions in the game, even more so when paired with Nightfall modifiers. Bungie promised to make lives difficult for all players attempting a Grandmaster run of Liminality, and it has most certainly succeeds.

However, there is always a workaround no matter how difficult a Destiny 2 encounter can get. While Liminality isn't exactly a walk in the park compared to other Nightfall Strikes in Episode Echoes, it can be made easy with proper builds, communications, and a few tricks in certain areas.

Tips and tricks to make the encounters easy in Destiny 2 Liminality Grandmaster

Here is a list of a few tips and tricks you can follow in your Liminality Grandmaster run to make things easier:

  • You can skip the tree area by being invisible and sticking to the left. Destroy the Hive crust blocking the entrance to progress.
  • In the traversal area, it is recommended you take the path that is on the right side, with green colored lights. This will lead you to one Barrier Champion in front of you at first, and then another Champion that can be engaged from the upper level. You can skip the second shrieker and the third Barrier Champion by being invisible and just jump onto the objective marker
  • In the next red traversal area with hands, drain the Wizard Guardian Hive's health as low as possible. This will come in handy in the boss room.
  • In the encounter with the two puzzle rooms, two fireteam members can hang back in the back-left side of the main hall with the boss. This will allow another player, preferably an invisible Hunter, to go inside both the side rooms and bring back the orb.
  • The change in this encounter is the rightmost room, where three sets of three Taken eyes will spawn after picking up the orb. The carrier's objective is to shoot the eyes before the lava makes it to the top.
  • In the traversal section just before the Village, DO NOT jump down. First, take out the Arc-shielded Centurions one by one, alongside the bats and the Unstoppable Champion. Make your way one platform at a time, and then jump down to the entrance of the Village.
  • In the Village section, run to the back-right side of the arena and start by taking out the Taken Hobgoblins first. You can stay in this location for the duration of the encounter, and defeat enemies as they spawn.
  • In the open area after the Village room, a Barrier Champion is hiding at the back side on your right which you must kill for the Platinum completion.
  • In the boss room, hang back and take cover behind the pillars. Your only job at first is to clear three groups of enemies. This applies to all three phases of the boss. In the first phase, clear out three groups and then damage the boss until phase 2.
  • In phase 2, focus only on enemy groups again and then damage the boss. To do the objective, have two teammates outside clear the constant wave of Cursed Thrall, while the invisible Hunter enters each room to bring the orbs back. The rightmost room will now have three sets of five Taken eyes which do not shoot. The left room is the same as before.
  • In phase 3, the Wizard Hive Guardian from before will spawn with low health. Defeat the Hive Guardian, crush its Ghost, and then defeat all the enemy groups alongside the low-health Subjugator.
  • For the boss' berserk phase, always remember to avoid being together at any time in the arena. Defeat enemy groups, damage the boss, and repeat the process until it's dead.
  • An easy way to remember the lava spawns in the boss room is as follows: When the boss is in your arena, the lava doesn't spawn. When the boss is at the top, the lava will spawn in the border of the arena.

Best loadout for Destiny 2 Liminality Grandmaster Nightfall

An Omnioculus Invisible Void Hunter with Deadfall super will make life significantly easier in Liminality Grandmaster. If you have followed the tips given above, you will see a lot of workarounds that can be done with invisible Hunters. For weapons, The Call for Unstoppable enemies, alongside a Void Primary for shields, is recommended.

Graviton Lance is a great pick as it can deal with Barrier Champions and Void-shielded enemies while also dealing increased damage for Void Surge all at the same time.

A Prismatic Titan with Shackle Grenade can be great against Unstoppable Champions. Consecration and Knockout Aspects are mandatory in any melee builds. For Warlocks, go for Feed the Void with Bleak Watcher and Song of Flames.

Lastly, a Machine Gun is recommended for all three players. The element of the Machine Gun does not matter due to the Overcharged weapon modifier. Since Liminality is an add-heavy Strike, Primary weapons or even Rocket-Assisted Sidearms will not cut it against Taken Centurions, Taken Knights, Taken Hobgoblins, Dread Weavers, and a lot of enemies.
