Destiny 2 Master Salvation's Edge third encounter challenge guide: Balanced Diet

The third week of Master Salvation's Edge is live currently with the final weekly reset in Destiny 2 Echoes Act 1. Typically, there are challenges tied to each encounter per week, completing which spawns an extra chest at the end of the encounter. The Master variant of any encounter will guarantee an Adept weapon loot from the additional chest.

This article focuses on the challenges available within the third encounter of Salvation's Edge, The Repository. The challenge in question here is called "Balanced Diet."

Disclaimer: Any mechanic related to this encounter will not be mentioned below. Readers are recommended to get accustomed to the mechanic first, and then attempt the challenge.

How to complete the Balanced Diet challenge in Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge

The "Balanced Diet" challenge requires every player to avoid picking up the same Resonance shape twice. This means any player that picks up the same shape twice back-to-back will lead to failure in the challenge.

For example, a player picking up a Circle cannot pick up another one right after. They should pick either a Square or a Triangle, and then they are free to pick another Circle. This also means if you pick up Circle-Triangle-Circle in the first room, you cannot start the next room by picking up Circle. This goes for all players, be it in the Conduit plate or a giving plate.

Lastly, note that the player who obtains the Shape to start the encounter can pick up the same shape without having to worry about failing the challenge.

There are no changes to enemies in this encounter.

Tips to complete the Balanced Diet challenge easily in Destiny 2

The term "Balanced Diet" refers to the action each player should take while picking up the Resonance shapes. In this case, the shapes should vary, as the second Resonance shape cannot be the same as the first picked-up one. The trick to completing the challenge is similar to the second challenge.

Here, all three players that are on plate duty only, and not on Conduit duty, must follow the mechanic and pick up three Resonance shapes. On the other side, at the Conduit, only one Conduit locker must look for the correct shapes and pick them up in the correct order. The rest of the two lockers can only pick up two shapes respective to their Conduit.

This will leave three players with three Resonance shapes each, two players with one shape, and one player with two shapes. This is enough to keep the countdown high. Note that the Conduit lockers must not be assigned to the Conduit of the same shape in the different rooms.

For weapons, Heavy Machine Guns are recommended for clearing groups of mobs, Tormentors, and Subjugators. A Rocket-Assisted Sidearm can also make quick work of Unstoppable Champions in this encounter.
