Rites of the Deep is the seasonal quest for Destiny 2 Heresy Act II. Players got to see the story of The Nether, Guardians, and Eris Morn unfold once again in Act I, which left everyone on quite a cliffhanger. Act II, however, answers several questions, from Eris' fate to the Hive Gods.
This article walks you through the Rites of the Deep seasonal quest for Heresy Act II. Note that this article will be updated with each passing week once the following steps become available. During Week 1, players can only finish the first nine steps, with the rest being time-gated.

Prologue

To start, interact with the quest via the tab and 'launch' via the screen. Doing so will land you in the Dreadnaught, specifically within the Destiny 2 Court of Blades activity. Run the activity, go through 10 bosses, and the quest step will finish.
Investigate Strange Rifts
Launch the Nether activity and look for green rifts. They look similar to the one provided in the image below.

You can spawn in any of the three locations in the Nether. Then, find a total of four rifts to complete the quest steps.
An item called Willbreaker Shard will be handed to you after interacting with the Slab in Eris' Flat.
Collect Willbreaker Shard
The Slab on Eris' Flat will give you a series of quests that you can choose to run for the Willbreaker Shards. The previous step will grant you a single Shard, leaving you to collect two more for this quest step.

Some steps require you to find a secret boss in the Nether, defeat Taken enemies with Swords, and even run the Prophecy Dungeon. Follow any two quests and complete them to get two Willbreaker Shards.
Complete mission Renascence
Renascence is the final mission you must go through to complete the Week 1 edition of the seasonal quest. It is a very linear questline that follows a few encounters and a boss fight at the end.
Follow the objective marker in The Nether, and wipe out enemies as you see them. The only mechanic you must keep in mind is the "no respawn" mechanic, which will trigger if you or your fireteam dies.
New players might not be familiar with the bomb mechanic that takes place in the first part of the quest. It is one of the primary mechanics from the King's Fall Raid. Here's how you can work around it:
- Destroy three crystals to spawn in a protective barrier.
- Enter the radius of the bomb and stay inside until it reaches 100.
- Once it reaches 100, hop inside the protective barrier.
- Staying outside the protective barrier will kill you.

Do this three times until a Sword spawns. Defeat every enemy with the Sword and then follow the marker in The Nether to eventually reach the Hall of Souls. Once more, use the Sword, defeat every enemy, interact with the Rift, and follow along with the cutscenes.
You should now be done with all nine steps in Week 1 of Rites of the Deep.

First mission
Head to the Moon, and follow along the marker. You can launch the quest step directly from the Quest tab, spawning you on the Moon. Then, open your map, and mark the objective. This will lead you into the planet's depths, specifically where you usually fight with the Fanatic Nightmare.

Defeat the Wizards, and then follow the path through the hallway to defeat several Taken enemies. Once done, wait for the entrance at the end of the hallway to open up. Here, repeat the same process of defeating Taken enemies, followed by a Taken Ogre.

At low health, perform a finisher on the Ogre, and a portal will open up. Go through the portal, and you will encounter the Ogre again. Only this time, it is bound by four Taken Orbs. Destroy the Orbs, and now you will have the "Torn Between Dimensions" debuff.

Follow the objective marker, and destroy three Taken Blights in the arena.
Flesh of Akka
The next quest steps require you to collect five Flesh of Akka in The Nether. Hence, you can either launch The Nether via the quest tab, or from the Last City. You are looking for Hive crumbs attached to the walls of three locations in The Nether. They look like the ones given in the image below.

You can find two in the Mausoleum, two in the Hall of Souls, and one in Trenchway. Once you collect all five, head back to Eris' Flat and then inside her Throne room.
Interact with Slab:
Inside the Throne room, Eris and Sloane will have a conversation. After that, exit the Throne room, interact with the Slab, and get the rewards.
This should take care of the Act II Week 2 seasonal steps in Heresy.

Head to Nether

Launch an instance of The Nether via the quest step. You can either look for a new mission on the Last City map, or open the "Rites of the Deep Act II" seasonal quest screen and launch the mission from there.
Doing so will spawn you on the Hall of Souls, where you must meet Eris Morn in the center.
Binding ritual

Speak with Eris Morn, and she will ask you to stand on a Hive plate in the middle. Charge the plate up, and then defend against hoards of Dread and Taken enemies. Amidst all that, you must complete a "Ritual of Binding" by shooting very specific Taken Eyes floating in the air.

Aim towards the eyes and look only for the ones that are named "Eye of Vengeance." Shoot these eyes down, and repeat the process three times. Note that any weapon with splash damage, such as Osteo Striga, Thorn, and Incandescent Solar weapons, will not work.
Eris' Throne world

After going through the binding process three times, head back to Eris' flat, followed by her Throne world. Here, deploy your ghost near the imprisoned Taken King, and then head outside.
Slab
Interact with the Slab one last time in Eris' flat to complete the Week 3 of Act II seasonal quest "Rites of the Deep." The next chapter of the story will come in Act III.
