Destiny 2 Vesper's Host has two boss encounters that players must go through. Bungie has essentially provided a trip through memory lane with this Dungeon, where everyone must traverse the Deep Stone Crypt once more, and defeat the forces that lurk within. Only this time, however, it seems the bosses are more unhinged compared to the previous encounters within this tileset.

This article lists the basics of the first boss encounter in Vesper's Host Dungeon, Raneiks Unified. It is a Servitor boss fight with a little twist at the end, alongside the introduction of the third and final augment buff for this Dungeon, called Suppressor.

Before starting this encounter, readers are recommended to get accustomed to the other two Destiny 2 augment buffs, Operator and Scanner. This guide on Vesper's Host first encounter will help players gather information on how everything works.

How to defeat Raneiks Unified in Destiny 2 Vesper's Host

1) Suppressor buff

Before heading into the mechanics, let us go over what the Suppressor buff does in this Dungeon. Raneiks Unified is the first encounter in Vesper's Host that introduces this augment buff, so you do not need to worry about any encounters before this.

As the same "Suppressor" suggests, it is used to suppress the boss in certain situations. The player with the Suppressor buff will have their Grenade button changed to an active skill for the buff. Activating this will spawn a holographic clone of a human anatomy. Shooting this holograph will suppress a boss or an enemy nearby.

If you want to figure out which enemies can be suppressed at the time, look for a blue glow on the enemy. For example, in the Raneiks Unified boss fight, the boss' entire body glows blue, indicating that it can be suppressed with the "Suppressor" augment.

The Suppressor buff is often dropped by a Fallen Shank in a required encounter. In the Raneiks Unified boss fight, it can be found on the roof side of the arena.

2) Basic mechanics

Here is a list of everything you must follow in the Raneiks Unified boss fight in Destiny 2:

  • Start the encounter and defeat the Machine Priest Fallen mini-boss in the middle of the arena.
  • Notice the operator consoles throughout the arena, each having a number on them.
  • Once you defeat the Machine Priest, you will be teleported to the roof with the boss.
  • The boss has a bomb attack, and the "Integration" tether attack from which you must hide.
  • Clear enemies, and look for a Shank with the "Suppressor" buff.
  • Pick up the Suppressor buff, and look for a blue glow on the boss.
  • Now, approach it with the Suppressor buff, and then use your Grenade button to spawn in a human holograph.
  • Shoot the Holograph to suppress the boss, and you will see a message saying "Raneiks loses strength in unity."
  • Now, the enemy will break down into multiple Servitors. Look for two Servitors that are glowing, and keep a note of their names. For example, if Raneiks-1 and Raneiks-3 are glowing, the numbers you should note down are 1 and 3.
  • Exit the arena, and head to the first area to repeat the entire process. Suppress the boss again to see two glowing Servitors, and note their numbers down. Now, you should have four numbers in total.
  • Head back inside, pick up the Operator buff, and shoot the consoles with only the four numbers you noted down. For example, if the four numbers you noted down are 1, 3, 6, and, 8, then the operator carrier should follow and shoot the respective consoles with those numbers only.
  • After the four consoles have been shot, the boss will make its way inside. Shoot another Suppressor Shank to pick up the buff, and similarly suppress the boss.
  • It will break down once again, and this is your window to damage it. Repeat the entire thing until the boss is dead.

Since the Suppressor needs to be activated near the boss, the carrier can put on mods such as Concussive Dampener and Void Resistance to keep themselves safe from the boss' attacks.

For damage, you can go for Parasite Heavy Grenade Launcher paired with Concussive Reload Destiny 2 Artifact perk.
