The Corrupted Puppeteer is the final boss encounter in Destiny 2's Vesper's Host Dungeon. She might seem familiar to many, as she was once known as Atraks-1, one of the major bosses in the Deep Stone Crypt Raid. However, her corpse has been taken over by a corrupted mind, which lurks at the Vesper Station orbiting Europa.
This article lists the basic mechanics needed to complete the final encounter, and defeat The Corrupted Puppeteer. Note that this specific encounter requires players to properly utilize all three Augment buffs, which are: Suppressor, Scanner, and Operator.
This article assumes that readers already know how to use them in certain scenarios and does not explain the function of all three in detail. Readers can refer to our guides on the Vesper's Host first encounter and Raneiks Unified boss fight for a better idea.
How to defeat The Corrupted Puppeteer in Destiny 2 Vesper's Host
To beat the final boss in Destiny 2's Vesper's Host Dungeon, follow these steps in order:
- When this Destiny 2 encounter starts, you must look for a Suppressor buff. Pick up the buff and look for two boss clones chasing after players.
- Use the Suppressor buff to weaken the clones and kill them. Do this two times on four clones in total. Once done, deposit the Suppressor buff.
- Next, the Scanner must pick up their buff and roam around the room to find the correct "Pillar." It should be marked on the minimap with a yellow icon. The pillar that turns white on the minimap is the correct one. The Scanner's main task here is to call out the blue number written on the back side of the pillar that turned white.
- The Operator's job here is to note the number, find the consoles with the red number, and shoot them. All carriers must now deposit their buffs and then head towards the side with red glowing lights. Jump down and continue onwards through a hallway, leading to another room with the boss.
- Here, the Operator should pick up their buff first and shoot four consoles. The Scanner should then hop near the boss' clones and call out the one that turns white on the map. The objective is to defeat the clone that turned white on the map and pick up a Nuclear core from it
- The person with the core, alongside the other two fireteam members, must now head inside a bunker present in the middle of the room. Once all three players are inside the bunker, the core must be deposited to exhaust 50% of the boss' shield.
- Next, head through the newly opened door behind the boss, and make your way through trip mines into another room with the boss and clones. Repeat the same mechanics as the previous room to deplete the boss' remaining 50% of the shield.
- Now, move forward and go through the portal onto the very first room. Take the elevator shaft at the back side to arrive at the boss arena.
You should do everything listed above to start the boss DPS phase. You can keep Arc Resistance and Melee Resistance mods to survive Fallen enemies and the boss clones' melee attacks. Note that each clone can stack Radiation debuffs, so clearing them quickly with the Suppressor buff is recommended.
Now, onto the boss fight:
- Once you are in the boss arena, target the enemy in the middle platform. The other two platforms hold the boss' clones. Occasionally, during DPS, the main boss will teleport onto one of the two side platforms, so keep an eye on her and damage her as much as you can.
- During the damage phase, the boss will also attack the entire arena with thunder strikes, so keep moving to avoid getting killed. You can also keep multiple Well of Radiance supers to tank them. Once the boss has her shield up, defeat one of her clones to get a Nuclear core and carry it inside the bunker on the left side of the arena.
- Once all players are inside the bunker, deposit the core to start damaging the boss again.
- If the boss gets her shield up after the second mechanic, make your way down through the main elevator shaft to repeat the entire process from the beginning until she is dead.
Good weapons for damage include the Grand Overture Exotic Machine Gun, Whisper of the Worm Exotic Sniper Rifle, or any Heavy Legendary Grenade Launcher with the Bait and Switch perk, alongside the Concussive Reload Artifact perk.
